Congrats Marcella, you have a great amount of time to plan everything. Can I tell you that I was engaged 2 years before--we are getting married (10/13/02)--and I have not been stressed at all since I had a ton of time (this could also be because I am not the stressed out type) but I was able to plan everything at a moderate pace and get things done!Congrats again and best of luck in planning!

Hi!! We booked the Grand Ballroom! I LOVED the place...the website is www.grandprospect.com The place looks pretty on the site, but it doesn't come close to how beautiful it is in person... It def is different.
Hey Sonicstef, I need to find a church... Would you know of a really nice church in Brooklyn?

Is the grand room the one with the opera balcony? You must have one huge party planned :DThere are a bunch of fabulous churches in Park Slope.
I assume you are looking for Catholic Churchs right? There are others of course.
None that I can think of that are RIGHT THERE but a few within a 5 minute drive.
In Park Slope proper:
St. Francis Xavier (awesome priest and very nice looking church- where we would have a had our ceremony if my reception site wasn't crazy)
St. Augustine (amazing brownstone church, sort of an annoying priest)
St. Saviors (very forward thinking priest, modern church)
In the Sunset Park edge of Park Slope:
St. Roccos
and at least one other that Im forgetting.
There are a bunch more but those are the ones that come to mind.

oooooh yes, I'd love to know of some churches.. I'm roman catholic.. I'm stumped on this part!!The prices are according to the kind of package you get and there aren't really any packages per say, it's really a price made according to the menu you select, you know? and also, the room you pick... but to be honest for what I wanted and for I'm getting the price was good...

When we looked - the prices were excellent. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $100/pp for a full package. When we spoke with the owners, they gave us the impression that they really needed the business post 9/11 so their price structure was flexible. The style of Grand Prospect is definitely very GRAND. It wasn't the look we were going for but their prices are literally the best we had seen in New York.

Well, we wanted alot of extras to be added to the menu such as raw clams, rack of lamb, pig, and whole bunch of others that we wanted, which made the pp go up, but all in all it was good, we ended up getting them down from 150 pp to 125 pp...

If you're willing to have the church in Bay Ridge - St. Patrick's Church is really, really pretty. It's on 95th & 4th. There's also a really nice catholic church on 7th Avenue & Bay Ridge Parkway (75th St.) I can't remember the name off hand. There are a few others, if I can remember them, I'll definitely let you know.

Re: I'm sure you've seen this posted 345830495839458 times, but, I BOOKED THE HALL!
Regina Pacis is pretty far from GPH but Im of the mindset that everything should be super close.Park Slope and Sunset Park have tons of amazing churches. They are all about 100 + years old.
Im not really a fan of most of the Bay Ridge churches since many of them were built in the 50s/60s/70s and lack some of that old world charm.

I hate to say the church that I'm getting married at in Bklyn. is the prettiest, but it is!!
Our Lady of Perpetual Help. It is in Sunset Park and it is a Basilica. It has a huge isle and is absolutely gorgeous! It's very silimar to St Pat's in NYC. 4 generations of my family got married there along with my FH's parent's. It's not to far from Park Slope, maybe 15 minutes. It's on 5th ave b/t 59th. and 60th. streets. Definately check it out!

There is an amazing (but pricey) florist called Quade on 7th Avenue in Park Slope.A cheaper but also highly recommended alternative is Flower Den. Its further into Brooklyn but Im sure they can come to the GPH without any problems since they do wedding all around the tristate.
PS: OLPH church is amazing! Its huge and gorgeous! They do lots of weddings so you probably want to call them right away. But the area is a bit shady and the parking pretty sparse.
