I made a mistake on a poll a long time ago regarding price of photography

I'm using Mark Kaufman (I can't wait for him to take the pics!!!!!!)...and I'm going to be way under budget...I thought it was going to be around 10K, but I'm way below that!!! The exact number will depend on how much our albums will cost.

Anyways, I just wanted to clear that up, and I hope I didn't deter anyone from using him. Sorry for the mistake

Mark Kauffman 'gets' you when you order the albums. You should really consider this cost as part of the overall package. Kauffman doesn't.

I'm sure you noticed how vague he was when you spoke to him about albums.

I saw his worked and loved it, but his prices are WAY WAY WAY out of my league!!! Congrats on being able to use him.

Congrats I am using him as well! His work is amazing!!!!!

I know he is way over budget for some but I honestly think he is fair for what he offers.

I did get my albums in with my package though - but that is just what I felt comfortable with.

What's an average price range for photography? 10K does seem like a lot. I am just planning a budget now, and am estimating $2500, but thats' not really based on anything.

I know it depends on your package, but how do you know how muchis to much?

I am using MK as well. I don't think that is necessarily true. We have our entire package nailed down- every proof, every page in each albums, enlargements, EVERYTHING we wanted is included in our package.
You just have to pick what you want, include everything and negoitate.

That being said, Congrats Kathy! Mark is great! I am sure your pictures will be fabulous!!!

We also have a lot of pictures (all thank yous, and many more other photos) that are included in his price. Like I said, we have to see still about the albums, but I am very happy we chose him.

Wow that's ALOT of money!! I bet you could commission a famous photographer for close to that....

BTW -- I do love his work.

ETA: Tourist -- you might find yourself needing to budget more money for photography. That might be a little low (depending on what you want). I would recommend you up that number by around $500 (only if you can), just to be a little more realistic and open up your options a bit.

Tourist: We are paying 3000 for our pics.
I would buget a little more maybe 3500 for photography, if you are at that fine, you were prepared for it, if you are under thats wonderful as you expected to pay more. And if you fall in love with one who is 4000 then you werent that far off.

Thanks ladies--I hate asking how much people pay, but its hard to budget when you have no idea.

3500 is good. My friend payed around 2 i think, but it was out of the area, and she ais he was alot less than other people she looked at.

The budget in the knot book was based on 20,000 overall & allowed 1600 or 1800 for photo & video-

Defintely not in this area!

We are skipping video- we hate to see ourselves in pictures as it is.

We are still in the early budget stages & trying to decide if we should accept the money my parents offered.
( darn fiance & his pride!)

Its really hard to budget untill you looka round, unless you know you can't sepnd a doallr more than a certain # at all.We can be flexible, but I don't want to spend all the savings & have to start from scratch fro a home, but that's another topic altogether.

Tourist...I am paying about $2200 for photography...I am using a small company who is not a vendor here. I upgraded to get a 50 page album also. I like his work. There is only one photographer and an assistant though. Some of the girls are having two photographers.

tourist... im paying 2600+tax for Patken...
including proofs, small album, 2 parents albums and a bunch of enlargements......

also its a good idea not to skip video..... if you dont want to pay a high amount, then ask a friend or family member to videotape the ceramony and other important parts... cost=0

We are skipping video because we both hate to see ourselves on film.

I'm nervous enough about photos.

My mother is insiting my aunt bring her video camera though, so I won't try & stop them if that's what they want to do, but I don't think i could watch it.
