If you are having a wedding more on the casual side.. you can have one of your ushers, or assign someone else, to take a polaroid of each guest- they can then tape it into the book, and write a little something on that page-- Each guest/couple will have their own page..
ETA- the wedding does not necessarily need to be casual-- but, this idea is a little more fun- some may not be interested in doing something like this if they were having a crazy formal affair.

we had a scrapbook set up with crayons, markers, colored pencils, some die cuts (hearts, flowers, stars) and double stick tape...
everyone created a page in our guestbook, tis a lot of fun to look at~~~

I am a big fan of the pottery barn frame with the large matting around a pic of you two - guest sign all around the frame and it becomes a displayable keepsake. My girlfriend did this, and it really looks great in her house.

we are doing a wishing bowl,
i bought cards @ target and i am going to get a book after the wedding to put the card and envelopes together
We did the polaroid guestbook, which I love and cherish. I am so happy we did this.
It came out awesome and I love going through it and reading what my guest wrote next to their pictures.
I highly recommended the poloraid guest book. I have pictures of the guests signing it and pasting their picture if you want to see.

I REALLY WANT TO DO THE POLAROID GUEST BOOK, but how did you get everyone to sign it? did a lot of people do it? did you have to 'assign' someone the duty of doing that? TIA

I got the book from Laura from LA Productions. I'll post some pictures later tonight. Having a bit of a crisis right now that involves yams and Christmas dinner.

Laura from LA Productions was my Day of Coordinator, so she assigned her assistants to do this during the cocktail hour. Everyone took a picture and signed it. I truly love it!!!
You can most likely assign someone to do this for you. I'll post pictures a little later.
