i need a vent... maybe some advice...a few prayers...SOMETHING

So as many of you know, my job search has been in full swing. I have a killer updated Resume (thanks Laura!!!!!-Miamimerger) and I feel super confident. I've been applying to jobs left and right.

But

WHY IS NO ONE INVITING ME FOR INTERVIEWS????????

I'm getting a complex. Could be my period, but I'm getting discouraged. Like I'm cursed or something. I NEED to be out of where I am by March 1st (my personal goal).

Am I doing something wrong? Or am I being punished?

What do I do??? Everyday it gets worse and worse...

don't take it personally...its a REALLY tough market. there is so many ppl out of work that for each job there are a TON of qualified applicants.

i have been looking for a new job for over a year now and have only been called for an interview a handful of times.

just be patient!! you will find something

When I was applying for jobs, some took months to get in touch for an interview and others called me immediately. It depends on how desperate they are to fill the position. It really varies so keep your chin up!

My instinct is to say, its not you, its the economy. I think a lot of people who were at higher positions who have lost their jobs are taking jobs at lower levels . . . I'm not sure what level you are at, but perhaps that is the case. You are probably super-qualified and lovely, but maybe there is someone with 10+ more years experience than you applying for the same jobs? Is that possible?

aw! Sandra - it's this economy, for one job opening companies are getting hundreds of resumes and they usually only go through enough resumes to get a few people to interview. . . . Keep looking something will come up! what about a headhunter

headhunters are lazy lol. No really I called about 6 of them and they are all like 'i'll see what I can do...' and thats it. Never call again. NICEEEEE.

Ah yes. Perhaps I should just sell FH. He can make me some money.

Are you networking as well?

I have one friend in fashion and I know they've completely downsized her department to the point where she is the only one in it! She's been on a total hiring freeze and they also took a 10% pay reduction and cutback in vacation days. I'm not sure if they will be re-hiring in the near future, but if you want to fm me, you can send me your resume and I'll pass it along to her . . .

Dont get discouraged...I was laid off about a year and a half ago and I must have applied to about 100 jobs...at first, no one was calling me back, I went to like 6 head hunters..nothing! After about a month of me in deep depression becasuse I was getting no calls, I started getting interviews and I found a great job!

Even after I got hired, I kept getting all these calls for interviews..it takes companies awhile to get around to interviewing you I think due to the sheer volume of resumes you get.
