When I was younger before I met FH I had a really bad experience with a guy so I started dating and never really planned on settleing down. I dated some well off guys and for my Birthday one year this one guy gave me this Necklace. It costed more then my truck. I kept it because it was the nicest thing I have ever gotten before I got my E-Ring. My Sister wore it for her Wedding and I am going to wear it for mine. FH knows all about it and doesn't mind. This has no sentimental connection to the person who gave it to me but I love this necklace.
FH before I met him had two really serious relationships and almost went back to the girl he use to date a week before he met me. He dated her for four-five years and she gave him a Movado Watch. He now wants to wear it on our Wedding Day. I don't do doublestandards so I said if he would like too then go ahead. However, is it really a doublestandard if I don't want him too like this was a present he got from someone who at one point played a big role in his life.
What's your take? Would you be uncomfortable?
He also invited his best girlfriend to the Wedding against my wishes. I don't like her because she is his ex's bestie and after meeting her and being as nice as can be she asked FH if he would like to go to dinner with her and his ex! ALONE! LIKE REALLY? I don't want this girl to tell his ex he had the Movado on
*****FOR THE RECORD AND SO EVERYONE STOPS THINKING THE EX IS INVITED IT'S HIS EX'S BEST FRIEND WHO IS HIS FRIEND WHO IS INVITED
Am I being rediculous?

Crashing.... Do you plan on getting each other wedding gifts?? Id say get him a watch a better one than the Movado and be sure to give it to him the night before the wedding and he'll wear it the day of And you'll be happy and get your way haha!! ((This is def something I would do))

Ohhhhh, hell no!!! lol......I really think the whole 'best friend' situation is not cool. FH should respect your wishes and not invite her. As far as the Jewlery, I feel if that that both of you should not be wearing jewlery from past relationships. I understand they both are nice but I guess I'm putting myself in that situation and I would not wear something that an ex gave to me, especially for our wedding day.

tell him how you feel.
I would be upset if he wore it.
I don't see it as a double standard just because the watch seems to have some signifigance.
Maybe as his wedding gift, buy him an even nicer watch LOL then he'll be wearing the one from you (honestly that would be the way I'd solve the problem).

I wouldnt wear the necklace and i wouldnt be okay with him wearing the watch.
Like another bride said - get him a new watch and maybe mention to FH that you would like a new necklace.
You are starting a new life with FH - whether or not the necklace has meaning it's still from someone from your past.
Just my take on it.

I don't blame you. If it were me, I probably would have already bought my FH a different watch that was bigger and better than his ex gave him. But, I'm a crazy person. You know that song, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, by Miranda Lambert? I think it was written about me.

In the end, its only a watch. He's there marrying you. I don't really think it should be bothering you. People aren't going to go up to ur FH and ask 'hey where did you get that watch?' But on another note, people may ask you where you got that necklace from.
Just a thought.

No, personally I wouldn't. I'm an EXTREMELY sentimental person, so jewelry I get from an ex represents them to me. I never wear any jewelry an ex game me...and especially wouldn't on my wedding day.

I wouldn't wear the necklace and there is NO WAY I would let him wear the watch.

I will give you my most honest opinion.
Honestly, I would not want to wear the necklace no matter how pretty it is, matter fact I would sell. I would not want to keep anything any ex ever gave me.
So in your case, althought your FH is OK with you wearing it I would not even do it, and I would not want him to wear the movado his ex gave him. I would even sell that and buy a new one instead. And in regards to his ex, I would not have her in my wedding for no reason what so ever. PERIOD.

Re: I need an HONEST Opinion (Kind of Long)
if it has no sentimental value to either of you as you said, I really don't see a problem with wearing it. My FH has a cross his ex-girlfriend gave to him like 10 years ago, he wears it every day because he likes it, not because he thinks of her, kwim? It never even crosses my mind to think of it that way either. He will probably wear it on our wedding day too.

Sell both and upgrade the honeymoon. If there is no sentimental value attached to either item, it shouldn't be a problem. There will be other nice necklaces and watches!
eta: that girl sounds like a bia! I would've been fuuuming if FH invited a girl against my wishes. But the day of, she will fade into the background and at the end of the day, she is not the ex.
