I need dress advice..long

I put a deposit on a dress that I loved in a picture and I thought I loved on. I took a picture the day I put a deposit on it and I am not sure I like how it looks on. First of all the dress was very big and pinned up, but it is something about the front that doesnt appeal to me after seeing a still picture of it on my own body. I am not sure if it is because it is not made in my size, and altered to fit my body and if the look will be quite different when completed or that it is just not a right fit for my body style. It is strapless and is supposedly empire with lace at the top but the bodice looks longer than a typical empire. Very long. It sits higher on my chest than standard empires and the lace drops to about 3 inches below my bra (best way to describe it). I cant see the bodice changing much in a different size. I really cant tell if it is just a bad look for me or if I should look beyond that and expect it to change drastically after the fittings. HELP!!!

If you went to a boutique for the dress, the salesperson should be able to give you good advice - at least with the stores I`ve been to, they tell you if the dress is flattering or not. I tried one on that looked awful, and the salesperson didn`t hesitate to tell me so! Maybe you can go back and ask for their honest opinion. Or, why not bring a good friend along and see what she says? Good luck!

How big was the dress you tired on vs. the size you ordered? The salon should be able to tell you how many inches the bodice will raise and neckline will drop per size. If they dont have that information you might want to call the designer directly and ask. I had the opposite problem. Dresses were way too low in the neckline for me in sample sizes. The salon assured me that the neckline would be higher when the dress was in my size and they were right. The neckline is perfect.

See, the woman told me it looked great and so did my mother, and I liked it on me as well, but when I saw a picture of me in it, it just didnt look right. I know I was a bit concerned about the top and I asked if I could alter it and she said I would not be able to b/c it would throw off the line of the dress. I am not sure what to do. The dress is perfect and I am having trouble finding something comparable, but I am not totally convinced it is going to look right on. I wish there was a better way to tell.
