I need help choosing a LI reception site...anyone have advice??
Original post by Vicky1706
My fiance and I are interested in planning our wedding on Long Island (not too far out, Nassau preferrably) in December of 2005. All of the websites look beautiful but I don't want to waste a lot of time going to see places that aren't what we are looking for.
-We would like to get married around Christmas. Are there any halls that decorate particularly beautifully for the holidays? -We are looking in the range of about $60 to $75 per person for around 200 people. (Fri and Sun are ok) -Food MUST be delicious!
Can anyone help??

Hi
Here are some of the halls I looked at. All are very beautiful:
Woodbury Country Club - our reception was here and I cannot say enough good things about them. The food was very good.
Fox Hollow - I know decorates for the holidays
Milleridge - Decorates for the holidays, very good food
Thatched Cottage (Huntington) - I went to a wedding there in November and they were already decorated for the holidays
Good luck to you! Enjoy the search!

The Milleridge - they have a cute little village on the property, makes me think of a 'Christmas Village'. I think most halls decorate festivally for the holidays . . . good luck with your search.

check out Stewart Manor Country Club, when we first saw them it was the beginning of january and I was going to pick a winter wedding (and give up my butterflies in the september), because I loved the little trees they put on te cocktail hour tables, and garlande and lights on the beams and walls.
For Sept, sunday is $65pp., I don't know about dec.

Well, I think the food at Leonard's was really good at the tasting. My sister went for a wedding there last week, and she said the food was really good. I don't know if they decorate for Christmas. If you have a 200 person minimum, you might be able to get the ballroom that's on the lowest level. I haven't seen it, but it has its own floor, could be nice. Try going to look at the hall or any hall for that matter around December, and then you could see if it's decorated and how it's decorated for Christmas.
I'm having mine on a Friday for November, and it came out to $70pp, and around $87 including tax and gratuity. But I did a few add-ons like the parisian dessert, the shrimp display with unlimited shrimp for the hour and 2 meat carvings. The shrimp added on $6pp, but I really wanted shrimp! I could have gotten the viennese hour for $3 more pp too.

I've been to the Coral House for my husband's Christmas Party, it's cute and nicely decorated, however, if it comes down to Christmas decore - no one beats Milleridge IMO. It has a Wonderland look and feel to it. I got married at WCC - - food is terrific, but I can't comment on their Christmas decorations because it was in August.

I am getting married at the Watermill in May, when we went to go look at it, its in January. They decorate from November to March and have white lights on all the trees as you drive up to the door. They have a huge christmas tree in the froyer and all the fireplaces are on, the one in the lobby and each room has one. It is defitently worth taking a look at.

In Nassau, I would say Fox Hollow. I'm not getting married there, but it was a close second! It is beautiful there at Christmas time!!

I went to a Christmas Wedding at the Watermill about 3 yrs ago...and I clearly remember 2 things: the BEAUTIFUL white lights on the trees that line the driveway to the door....there were white Christmas lights everywhere and the frost made everything look like crystal...and then the FOOD. OMG...the cocktail hour was TO DIE FOR! Also, the Milleridge Cottage. I heard that there's a little village there that looks like a Christmas village around the holidays and is decorated really nice. Oh, the Watermill is in Smithtown.....
