Hi, I just got engaged 2 weeks ago & I'm already freaking out. I looked at the Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point, & they had the date open that my FH & I wanted, so we booked it right then & there. I thought the place was so nice & simple. Then, I took my parents & my FH's parents to check it out to get their opinion. His parents thought it wasn't anything special (his sister got married in Jersey at the Pleasantdale Chateau.) So, I guess there really was no comparison. But, in trying to keep the peace, we agreed to look at some more places. Here's what we've decided to narrow it down to: Jericho Terrace, Carlysle on the Green, & Flowerfields.
The DJ that we're using said he's done Weddings at the Jericho Terrace, & the sound is horrible there since everything is all like marble & granite. He said the sound re-verberates off the ceilings & walls & sounds 'tinny'. Has anyone ever been to the Jericho Terrace & noticed any funky souning music? Thanks! I can tell this site is going to help me out with all my planning. You girls are awesome!

I went to a showcase at JT and the sound was great (in the Dome Room). Our band said that they have no problem with sound in there either.

If you truly like the catering hall you booked with stay with it. But, it seems like you are rushing. It's been two weeks and you booked the catering hall and the Dj. My advise is sloooow time and enjoy your engagement. It took me 3 months to pick a hall, a month to pick a photographer, a month to pick a dj and I am just booking my florist this weekend. By all means you don't have to take as much time as I am but, the fun of planning is the planning and research of the vendors. My gfriends all booked everything right away and they regret it b/c they did it to quickly plus they did not pick the best vendors.
Well, good luck and congrats on your engagement.
PS the other thing about taking your time is that you are only focusing on one thing at a time

I just went to the Jericho Terrace website, and it says they are having a showcase on Jan 25th, so if you want to make sure just wait and attend the showcase, they will have a Band & DJ showcase. HTH

I've been to a showcase there and found no problems with the sound at all.
My guess is either your DJ was playing music too loud, or he has no idea what he's talking about.

It would definitely have to depend on what room as I am sure that the sound is not the same in every room. Talk to other DJs and ask about that!
Also, I think that a DJ could do a sound check and then play with some equalizers or something to make it work.

I interviewed a few DJ's before picking one and each time I asked if they've done JT before and all have said yes with no problems at all. I agree that maybe you should question the DJ and not the hall.
I also agree that you seem to be rushing. But I see that you are aiming for the same weekend as me and I've been planning since january, so maybe a little rushing is in order. Are you sure JT is still available that weekend?

Keep in mind that Majestic Gardens is a one wedding at a time venue. My FIL's went to a wedding at Flowerfields and said it was amazing. Just go with what you really want not by what others want you to get. Good luck.
