I just want to know how they're able to fire someone for that It's like your boss not being able to fire you because you're looking for another job...

They were laying people off due to cutbacks, and I guess since he was looking to retire soon they figured it'd be better to lay him off than someone younger.

ETA: Apparently he semi-volunteered in January, saying that if they needed to lay off more people he'd be okay with with them terminating him.

Ahhh... it's just the HR Rep in me thinking outloud... Even my company does some craaazy things when letting people go where I question how we don't get our @sses handed back to us on a regular basis....

I really hope this works out for Mike though!!!!
