My uncle was crossing hempstead turnpike yesterday after getting a haircut and was struck by a speeding car and was killed instantly. The driver walked away with a speeding ticket while my uncle lost his life. He was 77 years old and people may think it aint so bad then, but he was still working and still a firefighter with absolutely no medical problems. He was not ready to die! I am sorry

My prayers are with you. Where on Hempstead Turnpike? I was in a little traffic yesterday closer to E Meadow. A ticket? That's it!! That makes no sense what-so-ever.

No because they said it was an accident and that my uncle might have misjudged how close the car was when he went to cross the street. Witness said that my uncle must have got nerveous and began to run a little bit but the car was going to fast and when it tried to curve and miss him it was to late.But the doc said if it wasnt going so fast it might have only broken his legs, this way he had his legs broken and the skin was removed from his skull (head trama) and he had street burns all over the back of his body because he was either pushed or dragged. He was the trama to his head that instantly killed him.

I dont get the whole thing, but my dad said people always speed on hempstead turnpike. It aint right...and the whole thing is my uncle had crossed the street once and this was the last time on his way back to his car...he was a firefighter and always saw stuff like this so I cant see him just walking out into the middle of the street...it just aint like him. Sorry i had to vent

Yes, it was close to there, it was by ace hardware and pathmark on hempstead turnpike over there. Sort of like hicksville or levittown.

Listen, when I was 18, I struck a pedestrian (a cop walking for thereapy b/c he was on disability nonetheless). The man survived but he was able to sue my insurance company. If I was you, I know money will not bring your uncle back but to let this guy get away with nothing is insane. I would try to sue him just for that reason.
