I need opinions!
My FH & I went to my best friends wedding @ Stewart Manor Country Club in Oct & we loved it there. Ever since we got engaged we just said that we would get married there as well. Now here is the thing. I haven't booked it yet & now I feel like I'm just 'settling'. Also we're getting married at the same church. So it just seems like it might feel like a Deja' Vous! What do you ladies think?

the two weddings will be different. Also, it is basically only the mutual friends that will be at both weddings.

I agree with missmmpr - but also ...
make sure that your friend doesn't mind. Some people can be funny about these things. Look into your other options and book it if you really want it.

Why not look around. We went to look at several places before we made a decision. There are other places that have breathtaking views and floral grounds like the Swan Club or Foxhollow. We just happened to like The Milleridge Cottage. Also, if you have enough time in between the ceremony and the reception- AND - the place you select does not have a great landscape, THEN consider having your pictures taken at Old Westbury Gardens. It's BEAUTIFUL there.

Hi- I'm getting married at Stewart Manor this December, so of course I think the place is great too! But I have to be honest...my FH wanted to look at Westbury Manor, and I refused. Our good friends had married there (although him and I weren't dating at the time), and I just felt there were so many other halls to look at that we didn't need to marry at the same place. We did look at Fox Hollow (which is lovely too), but when I found out that his father re-married there a few years ago I also cancelled it out. BUT - it turns out that I did not have the popular opinion. NOBODY agreed with my thinking, and honestly, that's fine. We're both extremely happy with our ultimate decision, but I may have done things differently if I had just listened to everyone else, and didn't fall in love with Stewart Manor! Now, looking back and as I plan my own wedding, it's really not a big deal AT ALL getting married at the same place as a friend, family member, etc. I'm putting so many personal touches into it, that I finally realize that no two weddings are alike (but don't tell my FH that!). Of course hindsight is 20/20!! Please do whatever makes you happy - this is a once in a lifetime event and you don't want to regret a thing!! :) Good luck!!

Don't be silly! Its YOUR wedding and of course it will be different! The last thing you will be thinking about on *your* wedding day is your friends wedding day. I've been told Stewart Manor is great, but if you feel uncomfortable make appts and look around.

If you fell in the love with the place then you should get married there, go to a few other places and check them out first and if you dont see anything you like better then you have your answer. Its hard to get married where no one you know has these days in LI area, especially if you have the same taste. I have been to alot of weddings lately and wanted something different, so i know what you mean. I found Stewart Manor and I loved it, I could hardly believe I havent been to a wedding there before. I only looked at 3 places, I thought I would go to more but once I found Stewart Manor I was done. So I booked it! The bottom line is if you love it and the price is right dont worry. Like said before no two weddings are ever the same. Good luck and let me know where you choose. Kim

I agree with Marnles...
No two weddings are alike, and no one will care, either way. I know it's easy to get caught up in the wedding hoopla on Long Island, but remember it's your special day!! If you love the place, go for it!

I had the same problem when we started planning our wedding. My FMIL kept wanting us to book the same reception place, same photographer, etc etc etc as my FBIL had for his wedding. I wanted my own wedding, with my own style, not a carbon copy of someone else's. If you attend the same church, there is nothing you can do, accept chose readings which mean something to the two of you, add special touches to the service, etc. If you have any reservations about booking the same reception site, I would look around and see if there is anything you like better. If not, then you will not be settling, but taking the place you like the best! Good luck :-)

Thanks Everybody
You've all helped alot. I tell you it really does help to talk to other people who are going through the same thing. And aren't 'attached' to your own situation. Thanks again!!

I understand. I stayed away from a nice place because a friend of mine got married there. You may never be satisfied until you pick an original place. I know I wouldn't.

If you love the place, I would double check with your friend to make sure it won't bother her. I would be flattered if someone loved the reception hall I chose enough to want to use it also. Also, I agree with everyone that says each wedding is differnt. I have been to 4 weddings at jericho terrace and each one had it's own unique qualites that made it special. One other thing, your wedding is close to a year and half after your friends so that softens people's memories a bit.Welcome New Vendors
