I need some cute ideas girls!! What have you seen at a wedding thats nice and different and dosent cost a million dollars??

I am making a wedding quilt with old wedding photos from our families (some going back 100 years). I scanned the pictures and printed them on fabric. The border of the quilt will be 4 inch squares with messages from our close family and friends that we sent out and got back already. I will post a picture of it when I finish.
I am putting my church programs on fans b/c the church is very old and there is no AC
I am also making our cake topper out of clay to look like us.

I am thinking of having a photo guest book............I will have one very trusted person with a polaroid camera take a picture to put next to the guests comments this way we can always remember the details about that person on that day. I also think its good to know who 'aunt so and so' from in FH side of the family is, lol

Wow! You girls have such great ideas... I see I have a lot of research to do... Chocolate fountain, slippers, oh my!
At my cousin's wedding waiters walked around and handed out the intermezzo sorbet on mini-ice cream cones - I thought that was cute...

I don't know if you would go for this idea but I know at a lot of sweet 16's and bar abd bat mitvah's instead of the slippers they give out or have a basket of Plush socks so that they girls can wear them. In my day we just walked around with our stocking on but the last one I went to the mother bought tons of socks for the girls. Maybe if you can find the ones with the treads on the bottom so they arnt so slippy?

I don't know if your hall will allow an outside 'baker' but I believe Audrey's Bakery in Sayville does the chocolate fountain for $3 per person....

well for place cards I am 99% sure we are doing the candle thing.. Favors.. his mom is paying for so thats pretty much up to her and my approval.. I like the little touches during the wedding that let people know you were thinking of them.. instead of getting intelligent lights and all this other stuff I worked it out with my FMIL to have little box's of godiva's handed out with the cake... and I REALLY want to do the basket of slippers for people who's feel hurt at the end of the night but am having trouble finding the closed toe kind wholesale.. not even on ebay
There's a place in Chinatown (Pearl Mart?) that sells slippers for a few dollars each.

Oh man I love the slipper thing, I really want to do that too. I guess you would just have enough for the woman, right? How would you hand them out or would you display them and let everyone take a pair?

I was planning on asking two of the people at the hall to go around with them in a big basket.. 1 person on each side of the room.. and go around to all the tables. ETA - Or you can display them in the bathroommm ( I cant b/c I have to share the bathroom with another wedding that day) and I am afraid if they are left in the corner they will be forgotten or no one will see them. This way I know EVERYONE sees them and gets one if they want it.
