I need your help newlyweds...

I need your help newlyweds...

I was just wondering...now that it's all said and done--Do you guys regret the ammount of money you spent on the wedding? Is there anything in hindsight that you would have not spent money on? Or is there something that you regret not spending money on?

TIA

I absolutely loved our wedding, but I would have cut the guest list if I could do over. I would have made it much more intimate.

I was on a strict budget and would not have changed anything b/c I actually fit into the budget (even was a little lower)

My wedding day was the best day of my life. I would not change one thing. It was worth all the money we spent.

I wouldn't change a thing, I feel that I was careful about where I spent my money and that we spent wisely.

Well ... I think we could have used a different tuxedo vendor and gotten better service for a lower price ... but in the scheme of everything, that is pretty minor.

I definitely would not change the amount of $ we spent on the wedding. We mostly had everything we wanted. With that being said there are a few things I would have changed:

1. I would have gotten the Pedala sisters for hair and make-up. I was trying to save some money in this area but I wish I would have gone w/ wedding professionals rather than my regular hairdresser. Don't get me wrong, I loved the way she did my hair but it just didn't stay the whole day.

2. I wish I would have splurged on a string quartet for the ceremony.

3. I wish I would have splurged on a more artistic photographer such as Angelica Glass or Something in Blue. My pictures are lovely but they're pretty much standard wedding pics. I just love Angelica's artistic shots. They are really works of art.

Hi!

Hmm.. toughy question- I loved how everything turned out The only thing I would have done is cut the guest list but not the amount I spent-if that makes any sense. Basically I would have loved to spend a bit extra on myself-ie: personal trainer, extra facials and laser hair removal(lol)

All in all I did not regret it- I look back and am content with how everything turned out.

I don't regret any money that we spent for our wedding. We tried our best to be as practical as we could without going overboard. We had all of the things I wanted at our wedding, without killing ourselves.

I loved everything, the only thing I would have changed is spending less on flowers. Instead of pew flowers I could have gotten bows, and smaller centerpieces. Three tables had my centerpieces on the floor, it was annoying them and got in the way of their conversation. Also my parents insisted we have a pasta dish as a first course. There was pasta at the cocktail hour, which made the pasta at dinner a waste of money and unneccesary. Also I wish I had gone for the extra $1,000 and booked Angelica Glass for photography.

thanks for all that.. i love to hear from the newlyweds.... i always wonder if i'm focusing too much on something for the wedding or if there's anything i can scale back on without feeling guilty in the long run!

Re: I need your help newlyweds...

i would have booked a photographer recommended by LIW girls first instead of losing a $1400 deposit. my actual photographer, luckiliy, was amazing! and i would have booked a different videographer since mine didn't show up.

and i don't think i would have changed anything else. BUT, it was just soooo expensive that i feel like i could've done without a big shindig and just have had something more intimate.

i think you can save money on not doing some little things like cry packs, slipper baskets, programs which put together = a nice chunk of change

based on a lot of the flower quotes i've seen, i think you can definitely skimp on the flowers a little, as long as they're not dead :)

don't regret a thing at all--loved it!

the only thing i wish i had was MORE money to have it on a saturday night instead of sunday daytime---we still had a GREAT time--but i would have loved to have it on a sat. night like most people do so we could party all night long with guests!

Re: I need your help newlyweds...

I would have cut the bridal party. They weren't crazy, problematic, or drama queens, I just didn't have anything for them to do. I didn't ask them to do anything. I don't trust other people with my work (and I had a LOT of DIY's). We just didn't need that many people. I thought I was going to need input and extra hands and all that, but when it came down to it, I just made decisions after briefly consulting my husband then moved on.
I loved the shower they threw, but I didn't get married so I could have a shower. Mostly, they were just there for the extra challenge of dressing and organizing 8 other people.

Also, I would have been more specific in telling the photographer what pictures I wanted.

Finally, I would have sprung for the videographer if I'd known my husband was going to forget to ask someone to bring a camera. Although it might not have mattered, since there were no microphones in the gazebo, so no one could hear anything.
