I ODed on prescription drugs last night......(kinda long)

What a nightmare....yesterday, I got my period unexpectedly while I was out at a diner with FH's family (hope i'm not making anyone we're all girls here!)...I had to run out in the middle of lunch and find the nearest supermarket to buy some goods...anyway, after dinner, we had to go to a baby shower for his cousin...my cramps started getting crazy so I asked FMIL for some tylenol...she gave me some prescription medication (IBUPROFEN) and I guess the dosage was really high because 20 minutes later, I was out of it! I couldn't walk on my own, I was trembling, and I was a blubbering mess, I couldn't focus and people are now telling me that my eyes were rolling in the back of my head...they were going to call the ambulance but I didn't want to get my stomach pumped so I just toughed it out...so me and FH spent the whole night in his aunts bedroom with him holding a bucket near the bed while I hyperventilated....so embarassing I think it was a combination of the heat, the drugs, and my period....I'm better now but could it have gotten any worse! FH was really there for me though...he's the best

OH my goodness, thats awful. I'm glad youre ok today!! You gotta carry some aleve with you in case it ever happens again!!

oh nooo!!! that sounds awful! you prob should have gone to the hospital, that is scary! glad to hear you are okay though!

Its sooo scary! I did that once with Hypocodone (sp) when i had my first wisdom tooth pulled. I seriously blacked our for a few minutes, FH caught me when it first happened or i wouldve fell on the tile floor. And i threw up at the dentist and went through all you had just mentioned. Good to hear you are doing better!!

Thanx girls! I definitely got lucky....and what's crazy, I wanted to take two because my cramps were killing me! I'm just so happy I didn't have to go to the hospital and get my stomach pumped...it was so embarassing though!Everyone was surrounding me and I don't even really know these people...they're probably gonna be worried everytime I go to one of their parties now, ahhhh this *****!

that's the medication I have, 600 mg of ibuprofen. It is really strong, it's recommended that you eat first and do all these other rituals with it. In fact, my insurance won't cover it because they said it's the same thing as taking 4 ibuprofens, which is insane!

its not that you od'ed but sounds more like you had an allergic reaction to the medication

Wow- I'm glad you are OK! Prwescription ibuprophen can be 800 mg (like 4 advil). If your not used to it or don't eat with it- it can really throw you for a loop!

Ha, the exact same thing happened to me when I had my wisdom teeth pulled! They had a hell of a time waking me up after the surgery and once they had me in the waiting room, I threw up blood which, even if my highly altered state, was mortifying! I tried to apologize to everyone waiting but I was just a big old slurred mess!
