I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

Here is the deal... I can't talk to any of my friends or family, because they all tell me to do what I want... ummm.. that's the problem.. I DON'T KNOW!!!

I work as an office manager for group of hair salons, but I'm going to school for medical assisting...

I love Medical assisting, and I love my job right now for the salon.

Recently, my current job, gave me a raise, and promotion, because I told them, I had a nother job opportunity, and I needed to give my 2 weeks. They begged me to stay and gave me the promotion and raise. I agreed..

Then the other job offered me $2 less an hour, but 2 weeks paid vacation and 1 week sick leave paid. I don't have any of these benefits at my other job. and this job is in my field. And it's for an OB/GYN office, which I really wanted to work for..

Here is the problem:
I'm gettting married in 4 months, and I have A LOT going on right now.. I
'm going to need to take time off for the wedding, and both jobs agreed to give me the 2 1/2 weeks off. BUT I'm nervous to change jobs right now, with graduating from school.. and gettting married.. I NEED HELP.. I feel like the only reason I would stay at my current job, is because I'm 'comfortable' there... This other job really will help with my future, but I'd also be getting paid less. AHHH!!! I need to make a decision by tonight, they faxed the contract over to me to sign.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO???
ANY SUGGESTIONS???

By the way, I'll tell you how much the jobs pay... but dont' laugh

Salon: $36,720/ year
Doctor: $32,400/ year but will increase to $34,560 in June when I'm certified

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

I think I just answered my questions in my post... It's stupid to keep a job for comfort...

Also, We're getting married, and starting a life together, mine as well, begin my career while again, so I don't have worry about it later

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

Take the Dr. office job. You need the experience in your field. So many of my friends graduated college and couldn't get jobs because they only had a degree and no experience. I had no trouble because I had 1 1/2 years of experience in my field.

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

i'm a big fan of making as many changes in one shot as possible. Take the Dr. job...I wish I was in your shoes. I'd be outta here so fast! (Espcially because I actally want to work in the medical field, would take less money, work in an office and make about what you do...) Too funny...GO for it...

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

go with the dr's office job. you don't know if/when another opportunity in your field will come up and you'll be kicking yourself later if you pass this one up. plus then you can get all the changes over with at once.

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

You should definitely go for the new job. I think it is a great opportunity. You will be fine with the change before the wedding!

Good Luck and keep us posted!

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

I also say take the Dr. office job - you need experience in your field. Try to negotiate and say your current job is offering $2 (or $3, $4, etc.... ) above what they are and are they willing to match. I've actually had this work before...

Good luck!!

Re: I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP..JOB/WEDDING related

Take the job in your field. I think you are resisting since you are comfortable and have a lot on your plate. But you should be working towards more experience in the field you trained and went to school for, not salons. The extra pay is really insignifcant once you factor in taxes.
