I sort of think we made a decision

I sort of think we made a decision

I was really sort of depressed all day for anumber of reasons and tomorrow (sunday) we were supposed to go to NRC to change our date, but I still wasn't sure..but I spoke to my aunt, and I was talking to her about it and how I'd really hate changing the date and then we are able to come up withthe money anyway, or we end up with 180+ people anyway, and don't save the money by hvaing the lower minimum. She told me just keep it on saturday..you have a year and ahlf, I'm sure you can save the money, and if you don't, you already havea backup plan (My sister and brother in law offered to loan us anything we're short..and are saving $10K just for that purpose...are they not awesome?)

Because...the price for sunday was only $10 cheaper than saturday night! And to me that wasn't worth it!!! But the thing is the minimum would be 150 instead of 180, but I just have a feeling we're gonna end up wth 180 anyway...I really didn't decide, but after I got off the phone with my aunt, everyone said I looked much happier. I think I just liked that idea

So tomorrow we're going to look over our revised list and see how many people we think we'll have, and if it looks like we can still ake our 180 minimum, I guess we'll stay with saturday night and really try to save

This is what family is for. You are blessed.

When my mother was revamping her estate before heart surgery about two months ago, she had to make many changes. Especially in the event that it wasn't going to be a success. With my father in the hospital at the same time, and unable to communicate, arrangements HAD to be made. When my family went to the estate attorney, it was my brother who suggested that a certain amount of money be set aside for my wedding, in trust, so we wouldn't have to worry about it. I was very touched by this gesture and it was agreed upon by my two sisters as well. I most certainly didn't ask for this, and we would have found a way to make it work even if it meant taking a loan. But my siblings want me to have what they had for their weddings. They did not want it taken away in taxes. I am grateful.

BTW, moms surgery was a success, thank G-d. Now if I can only get her to exercise.....

I think you guys should try to stick to Saturday night, because it seems like that would make you so much more happier. You're clearly attached to that date, and honestly, things have a way of working out. It's a year and a half away, and you can save a lot in that time frame! And if worse comes to worse, you'll borrow from your sister and pay her back with the money you get from wedding gifts, etc. Numbers of guests have a way of creeping up on you, we want 150 and really can't afford anymore, but in making a rough guest list we're already at 180.

Good luck!!

I am so glad your mom is ok. Getting them to do the right thing afterward is the hard part!

That's great Jen! I think you can definitely find little things you can cut back on to save some extra $$, like not eating out as much, not buying Starbucks every day, etc. I am happy for yiu that you are going to keep your date!

Re: I sort of think we made a decision

Yeah, I got a new part time job...so whatever I don't need to live off of (gas, basically ) I'm going to put right into the wedding savings. And hopefully I won't need to dig into it for school, and if I need to I can go back to tutoring, which made a lot of $, but I didn't want to do it b/c it's too stressful. So we'll find a way to make it work, hopefully. There are always bills (rent, gas, student loan payments for both me and FH), but we have a big burden lifted in that we just finsihed paying off our furtniture. FH moved into his own apt in september and we were going to buy cheap furniture, but we decided rather than buying furniture twice, we'd buy furniture now that we could use when we get married and for many years beyond, so we bought a nice couch anda nice entertainment center, on a 0 payments 0 interest kind of plan and we were able to pay it off, which was so great. And then FH got his desk from ikea pretty cheap, my mom gave him an extra bed we had, and I took my grandm'as old bedroom furniture and gave mine to FH, so we could afford the livng room. Anywya, I'm babbling, but I'm glad the furniture is paid off!
