I stayed at a hotel and was attacked by bed bugs!!!

OMG! I'm so grossed out!! I stayed at a VERY WELL KNOWN chain hotel in Poughkeepsie on Saturday night when I went to my friend's wedding... and ended up with itchy, red, swollen welts on my legs! I've come to find out they're BED BUG BITES! My FH got bitten, too, but they're smaller red bites all over his body. Mine are WELTS. I read everyone reacts differently, so I guess I got more of a reaction.

I'm so freaked out because apparently you can bring these home with you... in your bags, clothes, etc... and if you bring the eggs home, they'll hatch in the house! We own a new home, and I'm so afraid they're going to infest our home now!

What do we do?!?!?!?!

That is horrible! I would call the hotel and give them a mouthful .....and Then I would call the Doctor...maybe He can suggest a cream for the rash!

if you haven't unpacked yet, see if there's some product that kills the bed bugs in the laundry or boil everything in hot water??

Oh no, what a horror! Go to the Dr. and make sure thats what it is.

Id go tot he doctor to make sure you know what it is.

I would wash all of your things in hot water, and bleach if possible.

Go to the Dr, and i'd bring all your stuff to a laundrymat...def call the hotel!

Not to totally freak you out, but that's a really bad situation. My parent's friends had to have the house fumigated, the carpets taken out and had to buy new couches and matresses. Don't even bring your suitcases into the house and call an exterminator immediately. Good luck!

First step is to go to the doctor and confirm that they really are 'bed bug bites' and just as a precaution wash everything throughly.

OMG... this was our FIRST drive in my BRAND NEW CAR. OMG! And we just bought our house 8 months ago! i'm going to throw up. I'm going to the dermatologist today. I just took pictures of my leg, which actually doesn't look half as bad as it did yesterday. I should have taken the picture of it yesterday. A stranger came up to me and commented on how it looked like a flea bite, but I don't have dogs, nor have I been around any! I just did all research about it, and they definitely look like bed bug bites... plus all the articles sound exactly like what I've been going through. My FH's aren't half as bad as mine, although he has more bites than me. We thought we had a spider in our bed, but people keep telling me these aren't spider bites. EWWWW... sooo grossed out! I called the hotel to tell them not to let anyone else stay, and they didn't even offer me anything. I wouldn't accept anything from them at this point, because if I have to throw out any clothes, my brand new sheets, duvet cover, down comforter, brand new KING sized mattress, our bags... if any eggs HATCH... forget it... they're going to owe me more than a free night.

Sorry to hear about your discomfort. There was a woman on Good Morning America a few weeks ago and she was actually suing the hotel for her Bed Bugs Infestation.

I'm so sorry! I hope it's not bed bugs but if it is, I hope you can get rid of them all quick!

I thought I had bed bugs last year because I was getting itchy welts on my body but it turned out to be my laundry detergent. Now I use stuff meant for infant's clothes (perfume & dye free) and haven't had a problem since.

You didn't see any stains on the mattress, did you? I wonder if it could be a detergent reaction?

I agree Thats horrible not mention gross!!!! I know there are creams you can use to stock the swelling and the itch, but ask your doctor about a spray for your house and car. Wash your clothes in as hot a water as they allow, or have them dry cleaned.

call the nys dept of health on them then call the better business bureau. I am sure you have called the doctor already.

OMG I'm so sorry this happened to you. Def. get to the doctor asap, and don't bring the luggage into the house.
