Background:
I was told by my bridal shop when I ordered the BM gowns the dressed should be in 'by Halloween time' when I ordered them back in June.
They didnt come in until January. When I inquired about it in November and December, i was told 'oh no, we never said they would come in by Halloween' They told this to all FOUR of my bridesmaids AND myself at different times when they ordered.
Meanwhile, my MOH in Texas orders the SAME dress from a different bridal shop 2 months AFTER WE ordered ours here in NY......and she got hers 4 weeks before the NY girls came in!!! .............................................................................
Nevertheless, if that isnt bad enough. When my BM goes to get fitted and they tell her 'oh you only need a hem' so she says, 'okay when can I pick it up?', They tell her March 5th. (my wedding is 3 days later)
She says cant I pick it up the week before? And they tell her, get this........'Noooooo. In 17 years, weve never had the BM pick up their dresses the week before. its always done a couple days before. If the Bride has a problem with it, tell her to call us'
So, basically your holding my BM's dresses for hostage? LOL Is it REALLY that big of deal or that unusual to get your dress the week before? I have bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, family coming from out of state....do they really think everything revolves around when they FEEL like making a hem 6 weeks later??????????
Im Sorry. I had to let it out I regret going to this bridal shop SOOOOOOO bad.

...I would definitely go in person and talk to them....she can probably get it hemmed elsewhere faster and for less money.good luck.

They do things the way they want because it suits them. You shouldn't have to call they should just hem the dress or she should take it for alterations at a place that will accomodate her.

you can tell them that for my brother's wedding, i picked up my BM dress 2 weeks in advance, and if they haven't seen this in their 17 years of business, they need to get out of the business!!

Wow that's nuts! Every time I was a BM I picked it up when it was ready, which was way before the wedding! She should tell them she can't make it that day, she can only make it X day so it needs to be ready then end of story.

OMG what bullsh*t!!! Thats not right..first off they should have lied and second, of course people pick up their dresses a week before..some do it months before.
I'm afraid to ask what bridal shop. Cause if its mine i'll freak out. I worry about this crap all the time

sorry your going through this what is the name of your bridal store that is giving you these headaches. I personally would go to the store and talk to them face to face.

Uh that *****, I'm so sorry for you!!
I don't get how these people are running a business with such rules. What if after they do the hem, she goes back and it's done wrong what are you supposed to do then?!? Are the alterations in the price or already paid for? If not, I would definitely just pick up the dresses and go somewhere else for the alterations!

I'm sooo sorry you're going through this. Evrytime I've been a BM I've gotten the dress at least 2 weeks in advance.
Which bridal store is this so we all boycott this place?

Thanks girls!! Im SO frustrated....b/c they LIE, lie lie lie. I reaaaallly have a feeling back in June they just either FORGOT or DIDNT order the dresses, thinking 'oh her weddings not till March, no rush' Meanwhile, we pruposefully ordered it EARLY to get it over with early.
Do I really wanna worry 3 days before the wedding how the dresses are gonna come out????
And Im gonna say what Bridal Shop it is, and then Im gonna erase it, b/c I dont want them coming on here, seeing its me, and then trashing my dress out of spite, you NEVER know with these crazy places/people.
: ( and Im SO disappointed in them b/c I had such high hopes.

i have a seamstress that can help but she lives in brentwood,, she actually works at a bridal place and does the seamstress at home on the side.. FM me for details

Sorry to hear they are putting you through this. I know it is frustrating. I know you want to get as much finished as early as possible, but if it is any consilation -- the dresses will fit perfectly and freshly steamed. This way no one needs to worry about them gaining or losing weight or smashing it into closet.

That is totally nuts! First of all what if there's a problem 3 days before with one of their dresses? What would they do then?
I would call and ask if they can get it earlier than that but I see why you're about to become Bridezilla!

yea, I did call and I told the lady under no uncertain terms the girls are picking up their dresses a week before, i dont care what 17 years of tradition is over there, LOL Im so disappointed too b/c theyve gotten good reviews in the past, but I hate being lied to, and I hate being told Im the crazy one for not wanting to pick up the dress 3 days before. And you KNOW we have a lot of **** going on as it is!

Well at least we know your the sane one and they're the crazy ones!
I would be bugging out if 3 days before the wedding that my girls didn't have their dresses...and yes I know how crazy it is atm with everything else going on.. is there a way that you can talk to the owner/manager and see what they say?
