I think you need to get your dress where you feel comfortable. Don't worry about offending Jude!
Listen, as I've said before, I got my dress at their sample sale. It was listed for $5,000 retail and I got them to sell it to me for $1,500. I wanted the $5k dress but I could not pay $5k and I didn't!
So, I think you have a few options to consider before making the purchase:
1. Does house of brides have it exactally and do you know a good seamstress to do the alterations once it comes in? If not, that is something to consider.
2. Did you check out Macy's like the above post said? It might be worth a try and maybe they will have sale.
3. if you fit into the sample in the showroom, call Jude and ask her when they are having their next sample sale. Explain the situation- be honest! Just tell her that you are in love with the dress but just cannot afford their price. I am sure that she'll tell you when the next sample sale is going to be and if she expects that dress to be in the sale. Then, you can get there first thing in the morning and get it. Their sample sales are pretty tame (unlike others I had been to). I got my own room and Jude helped me out. She will do the same thing for you. She really understood when I told her I had a limited budget!
