I think I'm going to go tanning for the first time in a few minutes..

I think I'm going to go tanning for the first time in a few minutes..

My e-party is Sunday, and I am beyond white. Even the Jergens Natural Glow isn't having too much of an effect on me.

I have hawaiian tropic dark tanning oil (SPF4) - I was thinking that I could just use that? I already have SPF 30 on my face (my tinted moisturizer is spf30)

Does this sound ok? Any suggestions as to what I should do? I think I need the stand up, 'cause my sundress is strapless and I don't want those funny little boob creases from laying down...

What do you think?

TIA

pleeeeease?

How many minutes should I do? i'm pretty fair, but I'd like to be able to notice a difference!

I don't really trust what the employee at the salon says- I've taken my sister there before, and that employee was CRISPY from all the tanning.

pretty please?

PLEASE wear eye wear (they have it at the counter). Also, if it's your first time, go in the weakest bed for no more than 10 minutes.

If the staff knows what they're doing and you tell them that it's your first time, they should be able to steer you the right way.

If you burn and you have yet to see any tan this season I would NOT put any oil ...you'll def burn...can you get to the salon at least a few more times before the party Sun?

If so I would go in for about 5-7 min (depending if you burn easily)...I can tolerate the full 10-12 bc I don't burn easily... then go back a few more times and increase the time a min or so...like I said depending if you don't burn easily...def SKIP the oil...

good luck

ok, thanks ...

10 seems like a bit much - my sister is much darker, and usually does 10-12. I overanalyze everything...but thank you!

You might want to go and get indooor tanning lotion rather than the SPF, even though it is only a 4. I used a 4 once and got NO color AT ALL and it was a waste. You can just go into a drug store and in the lotion section they will have indoor tanning lotion or spray. I wouldn't buy the stuff at the salon either b/c its sooo expesive! HTH!!! Good Luck!!

Nic ... I am naturally very fair but usually tan pretty quickly when I start to go tanning... so I'm not great to help you on times (since I usually go i for 10 minutes to begin and up it to 15 shortly thereafter)

What I WIlLL suggest is to NOT use the lotion you mentioned.. regular tanning lotion/oil that you'd use to lay out doesn't work the same way in the booths.. They make special stuff that they sell at the salon, which works to give accelerate the color or give you a 'bronzing' effect..

Its WAY overpriced at the salon BUT since you are only going a few times, they usually sell 'shots' of the lotions that is good for 1-2 times

Good luck, I'm sure you'll look fab

PS: AND have a great e-party I expect PICTURES (or I will find someone who will share some with me ))

I would go for 8 minutes, since you are fair. I started going tanning again and first it was 8 mintues, then 10. I suggest going into the medium-high tanning booth and using the stand up, you will burn less with stand up than sit down.
I also agree w/Felicia-please using the tanning lotions/oils from the salon-they are better for you and you notice something with them-maybe buy a packet of lotion for $5 with some sort of bronzing effect.
Hope this helps.

back.... only did 8 minutes in the standup, as per the employee.

I'm still WAY white. I may go back on Sat night if I'm still the same color as my white sundress.

Give it a few hours. The tan will develop throughout the day. You REALLY do not want to overdo it. Even though it is controlled, it isn't safer than laying out in the sun. If you burn inthe sun, you will burn indoors too.

Where'd you go? DH went to the new place on 347 in SB near the Starbucks and thought their booths did nothing. I forget the name.

I'm in KP today I just went to the local place, and chose the booth with the newest bulbs. They were replaced yesterday.

It definitely takes a few hours. When I go after work I usually don't see any color until the next morining.
