I think i'm gonna call it off....

i'm a pretty frequent poster, but i created this user name because i dont know who's lurking. im pretty much on the verge of calling off our wedding. i dont think i'll be happy if i go through with it. i feel like FH has been so selfish in our wedding planning, and he hasnt taken any of my thoughts or concerns into consideration. his dad is an ******* to me and treats me and my family like ****. i just dont think i can put up w/this for the rest of my life. my mom even cried to me tonight, begging me not to go through with this wedding. i'm so upset and confused because i feel like we've come so far and I really do love FH.

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all of this! I think you need to sit and think about what is happening without any other person's influence. After you've sorted things out with yourself, you should sit down with FH and discuss your feelings with him. His reaction to the situation will be very telling.
Good luck sweetie! Keep us posted!

I have to be honest. I think if your having any doubts at all, it's a sign that you should be listening to. Always listen to yourself and the right way will find itself. Feel better sweetie.

I am so sorry to hear you so upset and unhappy. You;re not being fair to yourself. I agree with the other girls...you need to take a step back and think for YOU and decide what is best for YOU. Talk with your Fh when you get a clear head. Again, i am so sorry you have to hurt like this. Remember us girls are ALWAYS here!!

I'm very sorry to hear this, and I cannot imagine how hard it must be, but I think you know what you need to do already. Unfortunately, a lot of times, the RIGHT thing to do isn't the easy thing to do. Hang in there. We are all here for you.

I'm sooo sorry to hear you are going through this. Wanted you to know we are always here for you.

It's true though, if you are having doubts, serious doubts, that should be telling you something. Can you see yourself living with this person for the next 60 years? Will you be happy as his wife?

FH & I had major problems a year ago (we were on the verge of being engaged) & instead we broke up. We both went out w/ other people & then slowly we started calling e/o again & realized how much we missed e/o & how good we were together. We started the relationship up again (from scratch) 8 months later & things have been better than ever. However, if we would have gotten engaged & married a year ago, I think we'd be in divorce court now.

Please feel free to fm me if you need to talk.

so sorry to hear about what you're going through. I tend to agree that if you're having doubts you should address them now. My only advise would be in regard to FFIL. Obviously I am in the same boat but FH is so supportive. We try not to let the ILs cause problems amongst us and we always stick up for one another when we're being 'attacked' by an IL. I think you need to analyze FH's treatment towards you. What does he do when his dad is nasty to you? Does he say something or does he let him do it? FH's treatment towards you is the most important thing. If he wont stick up for you now then he may never. Good luck to you sweetie and lots of

the same thing happened with me and my DH about 2 years into the relationship. It was the best thing for us. We were a part for a few months, then slowly got back together, and now 6 years later, we are married. If we had stayed together, we'd be divorced my now.

Sometimes you need to let go and see what happens. If the two of you are meant to be together, it will happen at the right time. Now doesn't seem to be that time. step back and really think about the life long committement you are about to make. There's no going back. There's no changing it.

Hang in there!

oh honey, first, s

I really think that you should grab a piece of paper, and list your doubts. I know for me, personally, it's much easier to sort through and make sense of my thoughts when they're on PAPER and easy to see.

It sounds cheesy, but do the old (+) on one side, and (-) on the other. Weigh your options, and decide what is best for YOU.

Just want you to know that we're all here for you, no matter what you decide to do.

Hang in there.

If you love this person, that's all that matters. You need to sit down with FH and FFIL and tell him, hey - what's the problem? WHy do you treat me wiht disrespect? What have I done. YOu need to get to the root of the problem. Don't let them ruin your love for each other. Remember, your wedding and your married life together is about the two of you - noone else!!!!

In the meantime, here's a hug for you!

Re: I think i'm gonna call it off....

I would take some time to think about why you love FH and if that love is enough. It is so easy to get whisked away with wedding planning that you lose sight of what started the whole process.

I don't get along well with my FH's father and I have seriously considered ending it all - simply because I don't know if I can put up with his bullsh!t for the rest of my life. FH and I had a long talk about it - with crying (well me) - and I listed how it has to be. I told him I need to be first and we have to make decisions together (not with his Father always putting his 2 cents in and pressuring us). I told him that if I am always going to come second to his father, well then we shouldn't be together. Well things worked out, and I'm not gonna pretend we are a happy, functional family, but I love FH enough to overcome.

Feel free to FM me if you need support. I've been there.
