I think our friends got RIPPED OFF ROYALY.......what do you think?

Ok, so our friends got married in September. They JUST received their bill from the reception hall (last week) and to their SHOCK, thier alcohol bill was $3900.00.

Now here is the kicker........they only had 92 guests attend the reception.

5 of them were pregnant
14 of them were children

So that leaves 73 guests that MAY have been drinking. Now out of those 73 guests, some of them aren't drinkers.......not sure how many, but I just know it was a fair amount.

For argument sake, lets say ALL 73 drank.. That would mean that each of them drank over $53.00 worth. NOW, keep in mind that they ONLY served beer and they had bottles of wine on the tables that were PREVIOUSLY purchased by the bride and groom.

The reception started at 6pm and ended at 11pm.

So from the above information, do you agree with us that they got ripped off??

My FI and I aren't sure what the cost of the beer was BUT we do know it would be between $3.00 - 3.75.

It sounds to me that they did get ripped off... I'm not so sure I would pay that bill! I would fight to get it lowered.

I would def. say they got ripped off. They should've asked the price of the beer beforehand though....people are sneaky.

well if it were my friends and family that would be a bargain... but if they aren't drinkers then I def think they got ripped off

Let me ask you something, My RH is having us pay the remaining balance of our bill, half in April and half in May. All RHs are not the same? My alcohol is unlimited...Your friends didn't pay for theirs with it all included in the bill?

That sounds like it is way too much based on the situation, I would demand some type of proof of how much alcohol was consumed, they must have kept some record in order to figure out the bill!!

in order for them to get to that amount, they have to show some kind of tally, or receipt from that day. Like when they ring it into the register. The hall might have asked, 'how can you prove we're wrong' , but the real question, is, 'can they prove they're right?' where is their proof??

I would say that they may have charged them the Baseball beer price...$5 a bottle. They should have it written somewhere or they can ask for an itemized bill.

They may have charged your friends by the bottle. This happened to my friend last year. Their bar tab was $6000.

Everytime the RH had to open a bottle of vodka, for example, they were charged $200+ for the bottle. Most bottles should pour 30 1-oz drinks, (at $6.50 a drink) but in actuality, no one pours a 1-oz drink. They usually double that. So they were paying $200 for 15 drinks. Also, they were charged for the whole bottle whether or not they used the whole thing. So if they opened a bottle of some bizarre whiskey for Uncle Bob who wanted one drink, then they had to pay for the whole bottle.

Also, guests at weddings often put their drinks down 1/2 empty and go get another one. So they didn't drink 10 drinks, they just ordered 10. Just a thought,
