I thought picking a reception space was supposed to be the easy part...

I never knew there could be so many options...

So far our top three are The Snapper Inn, The Watermill and Eastwind.

Anyone have any comments about these locations? My FH and I have been to all three (and a few others that didn't make the cut). We'd love to do a beach theme, but I'm open to anything at this point as long as we can just decide WHERE....

I am getting married at the Estate at East Wind too!! My friend had a wedding at Watermill last year it was very nice but, it had another wedding going on upstairs. The estate is completely alone. Hopefully this helps! I have no complaints about East Wind very professional and well run :)

Re: I thought picking a reception space was supposed to be the easy part...

I've never been to the snapper inn to compare to the others, but out of we visited both East Wind and Watermill and ended up choosing the Estate at East Wind. Everything there was perfect for us and would definitely recommend it

Re: I thought picking a reception space was supposed to be the easy part...

So many venue twins here!

My completely biased vote goes to East Wind, we're getting married at the Estate in January 2014. We also went to the Watermill and we were very close to booking (the food at the showcase was so good) but stopped by East Wind spur the moment and fell in love instantly. East Wind quoted me less and than Watermill, and the Estate is its own building so there won't be anyone else nearby.

Best of luck to you on your decision! I loved looking at the venues but it was definitely starting to stress me out a little towards the end.

Ive never been to snapper in. East wind estate and watermill are both gorgeous and have great reviews. I almost booked watermil but the 'more than one wedding' thing bothered me. But ive been there for parties before food is great and place is gorgeous. As for east wind ive heard nothing but good things but it wasnt my cup of tea.

Thanks all! All three places are beautiful and its good to know that there are brides out there who loved them too!

Perhaps once we book everything else will become so easy! We're DIYing pretty much everything so I'm so excited to start...I feel like I can't start until we have our venue and date set though.

Nah, it cause more than a few arguments on our end. And many times it's just the first of many. FH and I saw 13 different venues together and I would recommend NOT doing this. I think he was kind of as excited about gettin started as I was, but soon he was very overwhelmed which made me more anxious and overwhelmed as well. I would recommend you and your mom, MOH, sister, etc. (basically someone close to you) go and visit any place you are interested in and bring your top three to you FH and get his opinion from there. It was very hard for us because FH is in his local fire department and we've been to about 10 weddings in the past 5 years we've been together and didn't want to have our wedding at any place we've already been to.
As far as your three choices go, I'm not familiar with Snapper, but I've had friends get married at Watermill and Eastwind. I am more partial to the dark woods of the Watermill, it seems more lush to me, but I did like the outdoor area at Eastwind. If my friends hadn't gotten married at Watermill, I may have chosen it. Hang in there, breath. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem... I visited close to 15 places on LI and could not just PICK! I ended up going with the Watermill... It is absolutely gorgeous and they were really willing to work with our tight budget (found a date that we could afford, stretched out paymments, and threw a TON of stuff in since FH is military). I have also been to East Wind and it is ver beautiful but I grew up in RIverhead so wanted to go somewhere away from this area. Watermill has a free expo this month... this way you can try food! Good luck!
