i want this wedding to be over..seriously

Original post by failurebydsign

im having to deal with so much stress over this thing its crazy

everyday i hear about another person who says that they are not coming and what a big inconvienece it is that im having it in NY

my mom and FFIL not paying their part of the bargain caused me to move away from FH so i could make more money

and now family things are starting..because people think they can not be in a huge room with some people because of personal reasons..thye are taking it out on FH and i and are not coming to this wedding

im done with it..all the fun is out the window..and its a day i am now dreading and not excited for..i love FH and i could really give 2 $hits right now about this whole thing

we should have eloped..because when you get big families involved and you have to try to accomodate everyone..its causes problems

Dominique, Debi has had people complaining about the wedding being in Long Island as well, in addition to the expense. She said, 'I don't care if nobody comes, I'm STILL getting married!!!!!!!!'
You must have a kind heart, or you wouldn't be trying to accomodate everyone, but be kind to yourself and your FH, because your feelings and what you want is also important!!!!!!!!! Mary MOB

Hey i know its easier said then done.. But seriously forget everyone else's feelings and do it how you want. Plan how you want, invite who you want. And don't tell relatives who you invited that way they cant say anything about not wanting that person there. In the long run its you guys day and you guys are paying so seriously STOP trying to make all the other people happy!

Re: i want this wedding to be over..seriously

That stinks that people are complaining and trying to ruin your day. I know this is easier said than done, but I'd say try not to let it get to you.

I come from a pretty crazy family, who def go nuts during big events and throw temper tantrums beforehand, cause stress, etc. So when going into this, I decided rather than let it get to me as usually it would, I'm just going to ignore them, do what I want, and not let it get to me. So far it's been working pretty well, but then again who knows what it'll start to be like closer to my day!

So for example, when people say to me, oh well if you do this, then I'm sorry but I won't come, I'm just like oh ok. I look at it like I'm going to have a ton of other people there that day, be so busy doing other stuff, that it won't affect me if they are there or not. The only person who will really be missing out will be that person who chooses not to come for their selfish reasons. Because on your wedding day, you'll be so wrapped up in things that you probably won't be able to stop and think about them. But that person who chooses not to come - they will be sitting home and will be thinking, oh today is the wedding day, I'm not going, I wonder what people will think/say (as if anyone is missing them). And then they'll start to wonder what the wedding is like and how they're not there to see it. So really, they are the ones missing out!!!

So I say, if you can, just try to focus on you and your FH and just doing the wedding your way!!!!
