Ok so our wedding is get this...24 days away! That is correct 24 days! My FMIL has STILL not purchased a MOG dress. I seriously don't understand what her problem is. She has nothing in her closet that she could wear (she has a very plain, comfortable style) and doesn't even own anything close to a gown. FH and I have been on her since MARCH of '08 to buy a gown. Then when my Mom bought a gown in OCTOBER we were really talking to her about it and NOTHING! She has not purchased ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally the other day we were over there and she was talking about color of shoes. So I finally flat out said how can you even consider the color or style of shoes when you don't have a dress. I don't know what to do anymore girls. I mean I don't even know if it is possible to purchase a gown and get it altered and all done in 24 days!!!!!!!
Please provide some advice. I don't know why people feel it is absolutely necessary to stress me out right now! Not happy

This is a personality issue. My DH didn't purchase his tuxedo shoes until 4 days before the wedding. 4 days! This is just the way he is.
The only good thing about your FMIL being so last minute is that she will have very little choice in selecting a dress that doesn't require alterations, (since there may not be enough time for alterations) and therefore, she can make a quick decision once she gets her butt to the store.
Maybe your fiance should say something to her?

Have her try Macy's, Saks, Bloomingdales or Neiman Marcus. She can buy a gown off the rack and bring it to a local taylor and have it altered. That is that only suggestion I can give you.

Some FMIL's can be such pains i swear as is mine also. I would say tell your FH to speak to her about it and let her know she needs to get this done like now.

i would totally me stressed out too! i would just talk to her just the two of you, and ask her if there is a reason she still hasnt found her dress (is there nothing she likes or isnt sure what to get? you could go shopping together). just find the reason out first then take it from there, and then explain to her that she needs to find one asap because of alterations, finding shoes, accessories etc.
and honestly, if she still doesnt buy one i would just find out her size and go out and buy one for her is she really doesnt have anything in her closet to wear and you really want her to look her best!

I'm so sorry that your FMIL is being so stubborn! If she goes now, she could probably get something off the rack somewhere (Bloomingdales, even David's Bridal) that she might not need altered. My mom got her dress off the rack from David's and doesn't need anything done to it. Otherwise, maybe a bridal shop can rush the order. I'm sorry she's being so difficult!

Try department stores...then she can get it right off the rack...and somewhat cheap too. My Mom got hers from Sears and loves it... Maybe you can say to your FMIL, hey, lets go run to the mall and try to find your dress... Maybe then that will give her the final push...

Ok thanks! I am trying not to worry about cuz I really can't force her to get up off her butt and go. My FH and I have talked to her about this many many times and it is getting ridiculous! I just hope she doesn't come to the wedding is jeans (something she would totally do by the way)

she doesn't have to order a dress, she can go to macy's or any other store, and buy a dress. if it doesn't fit correctly then she can have it altered. honestly, it's not your problem. FMIL hasn't gotten a dress yet either but she said she's still loosing weight so she's going to just buy a dress off the rack and have it altered. i honestly can't be bothered, i have enough on my plate. try not to let it stress you.

is she overweight? she may be putting it off bc of that. Like the others said, she will be able to find something off the rack somewhere. If it doesn't look amazing on her, that's her own fault. I wouldn't stress!

No she is actually a size 2 and has a really hard time finding things that fit her properly because she is soooo tiny! Which is another reason I think she totally should have this done by now considering how annoying she is about fit and things being perfect

i hate to sound mean but u did what u can do..u reminded her u asked her so if she does not find anything in time its her losss..people will be looking at her all night ..im sure she will come around because she does not want to look bad,as hard as it is try not to stress u have enough to do 24 days b4 ur wedding

She can def. do it. Just go to a department store (I think Nordstromss or Lord and taylor are best), and a tailor can alter it in a day if need be.

Honeslty, with so little time left, she has to go somewhere that she can get something off the rack, try davids bridal or something, and go with her if you have to, she's gotta get something, also my friends mom got her MOB dress at get this...dress barn, and it was beautiful, definitely try there, good luck!!!
