In 1993 my mother was in a hoprrible car accident involving a drunk driver. Thank god she is here right now because the doctors said she wouldnt make it through the night. I thought of using her veil because i am her only daughter and thought she would love the gesture, also the fact that she does not remember her wedding day at all!! maybe seeing me wearing it will bring some of the memory back. As for my question....... i looked at her veil and it is white but it has become a little discolored and it has a lace trim on it that doesnt match my dress. Is there anyway i can get it cleaned up nice and have the lace remoived so it looks new?? I didnt know if that can be done. any help would be great! TIA

I would bring it to a Dry Cleaners and ask them about it. After you get it cleaned and brightened up I would go to a seamstress maybe or just someone who is crafty that can take off the lace and possibly put on a trim of yoru choice.

that sounds so sweet.... i would def take it to someone who does alterations/cleanings of bridal gowns and stuff and see what they can do.. good luck, i hope it works out and i hope your mom loves it!

that sounds like a wonderful idea, after having it cleaned take it to a good seamstress and tell them what you'd like to have done, and i think your mom would be so proud.

My mom did a TON of research on gown/veil restoration! It can be done!!!!
Think about it - they can restore artifacts from 3000 BC, they can restore a veil from 30 years ago or whatever amount of time it is...
I'm so glad you're trying to do this for your mom.

i think its a really really wonderful idea and i think it would make her soooo happy. I would def bring it to the cleaners see what happens and if not you could always do something with the vail like frame ot or make a collage or something...... for your mother and have it be your gift to her.
they cleaned my original wedding gown and did a wonderful job with it! i would not go to a regular cleaner. read the info on this website, they explain it. (on the Q and A) page. they say regular cleaners use chemicals that are too abrasive. anyway, i think it would be great if you could wear your mothers veil. i am doing the same and it is a very nice touch. your mom will really appreciate it.

she said i can have it!!! so now i gotta start researching places to try and get it cleaned up!! If it doesnt work out she said we can try to dye it back to bright white ( last resort)
