of identity theft! Some fool got a hold of my credit card # for a card I never use and charged stuff at the Apple store (I don't have an ipod), myheritage.com, and coach.com! I don't know how much they charged but the credit card company thought the charges were suspicious. I have no idea how someone got my info. I don't use the card, I don't charge stuff on it online, I don't carry the card in my wallet so I have no idea how this happened!!!!!
I'm so sorry. That's awful. Unfortunately there are a lot of scumbags out there...

Re: I was a victim...
That's terrible, I once had someone get hold of my macys account number and charge stuff in California the same day I was shopping in Kings Plaza in Brooklyn. I didn't know I had the ability to be in two places at once. Macys of course credited me and now I have an alert on my card that whenever I make a purchase they ask for ID. You may want to think about doing that too.

Re: I was a victim...
I'm so sorry!!! I had an identity theft scare a couple of years back.....I called the 3 credit bureau's and asked them to put an alert on my social security #. This way if anyone tries to open a new account with your SS# you will be notified right away.

Re: I was a victim...
I totally understand where you are coming from. I have been a victim not once, but twice. The first time, was similar to yours. I still don't have a clue how they got my info.
The second was when the VA files were stolen. Someone tried to open an ISP account. The fool used her real name, but my ssn & address.
Make sure you contact the 3 credit agencies and put a fraud alert on your credit report. You will have to do this every 3 or 6 months, unless you pay for the program.
