I went to a bridal shower yesterday and.....

it was a viewing only party. it said on the invitation not to wrap the presents.
it was the best bridal shower i've ever been to! it was so much fun! everybody just hungout and socialized the entire time and we didn't have to stop everything to sit and watch the bride open a gazillion presents for 2 hours. This was the most time I got to spend with a bride at a shower because she had more time to socialize with everybody. I told my mom i would love that for my shower. So, i thought i'd share the suggestion with all of you. something to consider. i do like the traditional showers of opening gifts, but this was very nice too.
just curious as to what other people think of this idea.

I would REALLY like it as a guest, but i wanna open wrapping paper- Im such a child!!! Its like a big bday party for ME!!!!! lol

Its a nice idea but I agree with every body else, I want to open my gifts. I think it will be so much fun to tear open all the gifts.

I have heard similiar, but they tell the guests to wrap everything in celphane, that way everyone can kinda see what is inside, and then the bride still gets to open everything at home!

That's what i said before i went to the shower. i've sat through so many showers. Now it's my turn! but then after being there, it was so nice not to sit through. hmmmmmm.....decisions decisions!

I must be insane but, I like watching people open gifts. Especially at bridal showers and baby showers.

I would like it better if presents were opened at home after the party. I always felt that opening gifts at the party was a little off. I know I did it, but I was too afraid not to.

I like opening gifts way too much to give that up at my shower!! Even as a guest tho, I like to watch the bride unwrap everything. It's fun to see all the cute lil ideas every one has! Thanks for the suggestion tho, glad you had such a great time!!

my best friend is getting married july of 07 and her mother hates the showers where you sit for 3 hours and watch a bride open all the gifts...especially since she has a big family...i've been looking around for alternative ways to do the shower thing...how did the viewing party work??? were there any games played??? did everyone still put ribbons on to make the embarrassing hat??? all the showers we've thrown have been traditional, so it's hard to step outta the box :)

Your like me ... that is the best part to me! I like that better than all the games they make you play before hand so I definitely want to open gifts !
