I would like to have a Mother/Daughter Dance.
Hi ladies. I have a question. I would like to dance with my Mom to 'Wind beneath my wings' by Bette Midler. Do you guys think its inappropriate for a bride to dance with her Mom? My Mom raised us for many years as a single parent and really struggled, but gave us everything my sister and I needed! I would like to thank her in a special way. Please let me know what you think, if you have seen it done before. Thanks.

Absolutely wonderful idea!
No one else can tell you if it's inappropriate to dance with your Mom! It's your special day, and you should do ANYTHING that you wish - especially when it comes to honoring your Mom for all she has done for you. I say it's a beautiful idea, one that your Mom will likely treasure for many years to come. Is your Mom also giving you away during the ceremony? That's another way to honor her. Good luck and happy planning!

I did it and it was great
I was so glad I did it, my mother raised me, not my brother or a male family member (my father died 18 yrs ago). We danced to Sinatra`s 'The Way you Look Tonight' and had a great time with it. My mother also walked me down the aisle. It`s your day, enjoy!!

Mother/Daughter Dance
I plan on dancing with my mom at the wedding, haven't selected the song yet.... Thinking about 'Because you loved me'. My mom raised us all alone -She deserves the dance!!

Mother/Daughter Dance
My mom (Saint) raised 9 of us virtually on her own and I had planned to dance with but she wasn't able to since she has a pinched nerve on her spine! Ouch! She gave me away and my DJ played a song for her (Natalie Merchant's 'Kind & Generous'). That`s also when I dedicated my bouquet to her (surprise!) and we both cried like babies. I could barely say my speech! I love my mom!! :)

I think you should go for it ... I'd definitely would!
I want one now and my parents raised us - but I decided not to have a mother/daughter dance because I don't want to take that away from my Dad! My mom is my best friend though and both my parents are giving me away! I'll do something special for her - just the two of us! I'm dedicating my bouquet to my grandma - she never had a wedding, so I want her to shine atleast for that moment! But Kathi had a great idea!

I would like to have a Mother/Daughter Dance.
My dad left us when I was 11 so my mom raised 6 of us alone. She gave me away at my wedding and we danced to 'A song for Mama' by Boys to men. it was a special way for me to say thanks for all she sacrificed for me when I was growing up. Everytime I hear the song I think of her.
Planning!

How do you dedicate the bouquet??
It sounds like a great idea because I did not want to do the bouquet toss considering all my friends are married already!

What we did...
We just had our DJ announce that I was dedicating mine to my mom while he played the song I had chosen for her. Many of my guests thought it was all so touching - I can`t tell you how many of them were crying right with us - including my husband!! No one noticed that we didn`t have the bouquet or garter toss...either that or they didn`t care! Good luck!

i'm dancing with both...
my mom raised me but my dad and i are pretty close so i am dancing with both of them. i'm dancing with my mom to natalie merchant's 'kind and generous'. i was unsure if i was going to do it (guests would be spending an awful lot of time just watching me dance with people) but two things made me decide to definitely do it...the first was that i saw natalie merchant 2 weeks ago in concert and for the encore she sang 'kind and generous' and as she sang and i thought about my mom and everything she's done for me, i just started crying and took her singing it as a sign...the second is that a close friend of mine decided not to dance with her mom (who had raised her) because she wasn't sure if it was proper and she really, really regrets it. i say go for it!!! its your wedding and i think the way a lot of families are these days, the moms deserve the dance as much as the dads do.Welcome New Vendors
