Ideas Please

My fiance and I want to get married in October. As with any couple, the biggest problem we are facing is our budget. Right now due to circumstances our budget is 5K. I would like to have about 65 people at my wedding. I have been trying to find reasonable places to have a reception and i am having difficulty. Does anyone have any ideas as to a good venue location or restaurant?

Are you looking to do a dinner or a traditional reception with a dj and cocktail hour? October isn't the most expensive month but if you're willing to do winter like Jan or Feb it's usually much cheaper. A daytime wedding would also help keep costs down. You may even be able to do a cocktail party instead of a traditional dinner to save also. Hope that helps but my best advice is call around and get a bunch of quotes and see what your options are. Good luck!

Thank you! I would have liked a traditional reception, but as I said circumstances have made me have to rethink things. Finding a place seems to be my biggest challenge.

I heard the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook was very nice and affordable. Plus it's in an adorable town and by the water

I would suggest any Lessings venue, as well as restaurants. Are you willing to rent like a VFW/Knights of Columbus hall? My cousin is using one for a 1st birthday party in Seaford and their guest count is close to 70 people. There is also another nice one in Jericho I believe.

Do you guys have a favorite restaurant of yours? My sister had a similar budget and had a daytime wedding during the week at a restaurant near their house.

Many restaurants can offer a daytime wedding or event package on the weekends. We looked at Gemelli's in Babylon, Restaurant Mario in Hauppauge and a couple of other places. Usually it was about $55-60/pp with alcohol, I think. Some restaurants may even be big enough to have a dance floor.

We originally were going to do a restaurant, but we ended up at Irish Coffee Pub. ICP will easily work with your amount of people, BUT they may not give you the whole upstairs floor on a big night (Friday or Saturday), if you don't get their Complete Wedding Package. We are having about 80-90 people and had to have the wedding on a Friday.

BTW, here is a link to the Suffolk VFW halls: http://www.vfwsuffolkcounty.com/post_addresses_and_links
