If FH gives you $$$, do you take it?

Ok I was not going to post this but just want to see what others would do.

Background info....so we dont have joint accts yet and I pay all my bills, and FH pays his, etc.

Ok so I had my bachelorette party last weekend and FH wanted to give me money for the trip and called me right after I left. This was very sweet of him and he said...'well you only live once!' I was only 1 block away but just didnt feel like turning around and I didnt really need the $$$.

So yesterday he gives me the $$$ and said to go shopping with it. But I feel so so so bad about taking it. I could use some new clothes but at the same time I have credit card debt and an auto loan (on a car I never drive anymore...trying to sell it) and well I just havent been able to save much for the wedding. So part of me wants to be greedy but the other half says NO...HE ALREADY DOES ENOUGH FOR YOU.

Ok thanks for listening. I probably wont take the $$$ after all but just needed to talk!

take it!! my fh gives me money for things i need, not frivolous things!! we also live together and he pays most of the bills, i give him money towards the bills once a month!! but he also makes more money than me!! i already sign his name on checks and i cash them with no problem at the bank, and no one ever questions me....we don't have joint accts yet!!

If you feel bad about it use it to get something for him- I take care of all the money in the house, do the bill pay, banking ect... we have been together 5 years I have been doing it for over 2 years. I have all the money!!!!!

he come home and says your still here guess you did not clean out the accounts yet

if you dont want to spend it just put it away for a rainy day

i would take half of it. or some of it. depending on how much it is.

FH sometimes pays for things for me. like if we go out to dinner he'll foot the entire bill. or if i have to give a gift hes always saying he'll pay 1/2 for it.

we live together so a lot of our expenses are the same. however I'm really the one saving $$ for the wedding since he has school loans and car payments and i dont. so yeah, i'll take a little cash if he's in the mood to fork it over.

it doesnt make me any weaker for taking money from my man. just as he shouldnt feel ashamed that a lot of my money is going towards the wedding.

We basically bring home the same $$$$ and both put it in the joint account, i guess i never really think of it as his or mine, since its all the same anyway. No way to tell the difference anymore, he just got to the ATM faster then I did and now he needs to fork some of it over.

I do not see anything wrong with that. You have someone that wants to give you things accept it . I would just a little someting for them as a way of saying thing you.

Once we got engaged, Fh and I pretty much agreed that it's no longer 'my' money but 'our' money, so there's no need to 'pay back' if someone spends or gives to the other.


That's how we are.

Sometimes FH gives me cash...and sometimes I pay for him. In less than 2 weeks..it'll all be together anyway..so what's the difference?

We opened a joint acct once we got engaged. I still have my own check/savings accts. I dont think there is a prob accepting the $$ he gave you. We both always give each other $$ if he/she needs it ( I am usually the one that needs it more often). He has paid some of my bills before, and I have also done the same for him. You shouldnt feel so bad. .. he is going to be your husband before you know it. Dont worry about it...
