I wouldnt have stressed about every little stupid thing..I stressed so bad I made myself crazy...
I would have hired Jack and Rose for EVERYTHING..centerpieces came with our package so we were on a budget and hired Jack for things like bouquets, corsages, etc..he got to our reception and saw that we had nothing on our sweetheart table, because I forgot to order something and he made up the most beautiful arrangement for us, and surprised us!!! I wish i would have used him for everything, I would have been alot less stressed!!
I would have given my photographer as MUST have LIST..I had one ready to go and at the last minute remembered something someone said on here that it can overwhelm the photographer, so I wound up not giving it to him..he did a beautiful job on the pictures that he did take, but there are things like myself and my sister in law that I would love to have a picture of, things like our families combined, dh with my two brothers, we only have two or three with pics with Dh's sister , thats it, I should have said more what I wanted, Im not knocking my photographer, he did a good job, its my fault for not syaing what I wanted!
I think thats it..hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes..I did really enjoy my wedding..I had a great time and I cant wait for my video! Swa some raw footage yesterday and know that Wild Rose is going to do a BEAUTIFUL job, no doubt about it!!!

good info, thanks for the tips!

quick question: how many proofs did you get (i can't believe you got them so soon!), and of the proofs, how many 'good shots' do you have (keeping in mind you did not give the photographer a 'must have' list)?

I have about 400 proofs and there are alot that I like, I will probably add a few pages to the album, there are alot I DONT like at all, the lighting was really bad and the pictures did not come out good at all, maybe thats to be expected though, thats why ya get alot, so you can weed through the ones that are GREAT. My problem is I like alot of them, but dont really have a good one to frame on the wall, we had ordered a 20 x 20, and I dont have a pic that I just love enough to post that big on my wall, so I may downgrade and do smaller sizes

Thank you alicia and HearzBellz....your 'What I would do differently' is making a huge difference in many things for my wedding. Thanks for being honest!!

I hear so many brides rave about Patken, but you said you can't find even one photo to make into the 20X20. Was it the room that caused photos with bad lighting or bad quality of photos, or is it because you didn't like the way either you or your new husband looked in the photos??

ETA: I only ask because a friend of mine just got engaged & while the photographer I'm using was more than she wanted to spend, I also recommended Patken & Duet from the posts on this board.

yeah, i believe it is to be expected...

i think a lot of people go into it with such high expectations because of all the $$ we dish out. my photographer asked me to provide a list for him and we are going to go over my likes and dislikes before the big day. i requested 400+ proofs and am curious how many i will actually like.

i think the ones you posted look really nice!

I think it was the lighting in the room, I just dont look good,..and its not that I dont like my proofs, I just had an idea in my mind of how my pic would look on my wall, and it was of me and DH, a full length one, but I dont really like any of our full length shots, so I just need to find a different pics to frame, Im probably being overly critical, Im sure I am...I was putting together my album and have PLENTY of pics that I want to put in it, Im even going to have to add extra pages because there are os mnay that I like, but trying to find a perfect pic to blow up in a 20 x 20,,im just being overly critical of myself. I was kind of hoping Id look like cindy crawford or something..its not the photographers fault that Im no supermodel!!

I want to clarfy something...the qulaity of the photos from patken are GREAT.I dont like how dh and I look in the full length shots, my veil was FLAT and should be poofed, my bangs were crooked, I should have looked in the mirror or something..but its definately not the photographers fault..Steve was wonderful to work with, he took his time and gave us very nice pictures..Im being overly critical..I tend to do that

alicia... I would have a hard time picking out a pic of myself that is 20' x20'... that's alot of face

hearzbellz...you are so funny!!! It IS alot of face...hahahhahaha I dont necessarily need to see my face THAT big...heehee Im going to sit down tonight and figure it all out, I may downsize to a 16 x 20 and an 11X14, I dont know..

I was thinking the same thing after my wedding, i shouldnt have stressed so much. I only had 2 months to plan my wedding but everything turned out great! I forgot to give my photographer the list of pictures that he told me to make. I didnt get alot of pictures that i wanted like me and my parents, me and my dad. I did tell them a few times that i wanted specific pics but they forgot to take them. The pics that i did get back were really nice though. I got about 500 proofs but alot of them were triples and more.

steffiesunshine...thankyou for your very nice comment!! I just have issues..Ill find a great photo to frame..I probably just have to get used to my pictures..Im going to hopefully figure it all out, Patken offers a great deal, if you order whatever extras you want within two weeks of picking up the proofs, they are HALF off!!! I love that, because we have a certain amount negotiated in our package, but now my sis wants a few photos, etc, and Ill probably get a few more 5x7's to give to friends and family..so I have to get everything figured out, I picked out the thankyou's, so atleast thats out of the way!!!

You are so right about the stressing and thati s something that alot of brides on here say they wish they had done less of. I am trying to stop myself now, but it is not really working. I figure once it gets closer I will try. DUET has a wonderful photo list that has everything so I am not worried about the pictures. But the stressing out thing is soooooo important. Thanks again for the reminder, I am working on it.
