If it says Private Parking why do MoFos keep parking in my spot?!

Okay, I'm sorry but I need to vent. It's bad enough that I have to pay $60 a month to park near my building (this is Long Island, not NYC!) but I come home and some mofo's BMW is all up in my parking spot. ***?!!? There are all these signs that say PRIVATE PARKING and TOW ZONE. I'm so pissed. I left a note letting them know, 'for future reference, this is my private parking spot for which I pay a monthly fee. As such, move your car or it will be towed.'

Good for you, I would have done the same....actually, I probably would have just had the car towed!

I had a similar situation once, and I left a note. They stayed parking in my spot, so I had their car towed... problem solved!

I know - it's a nusance to get home, and just want to go in your home to relax, and you have to deal with some inconsiderate f&*%!

Hehehehehe... $60 a month is peanuts. You are right it is Long Island and DEFINITELY not NYC.

Parking in the apartment building that I work at in Manhattan is $550 a month!

But anyways... does your complex have on-site security? Next time it happens... check with them. It might be one of THEIR cars! Believe me... it happened to me once.

I would be pissed too. I have a house with a very obvious driveway in front. When the holidays come around people park right in front of my driveway and block me from getting in and out. I've been nice enough not to have anyone towed, but I have every one of them ticketed, and it's a $50 ticket! You shold call your police department and see if you can have them ticketed. Maybe I'm a bit mean, but f%*k that! He sholdn't have parked in your spot to begin with.

Isn't it funny how when a driver does something wrong, we automatically think it's a 'HE' (male) driver? Or when a driver drives slow/sloppy, it's a woman driver?

I feel your pain.

We have idiots block our driveway constantly. I've had one towed already. I just love when the owners are THERE and they look at me as if *I* am the B!tch here. It's my drive and I can't get home until YOU move!!

I have the PD on speed dial on our cell phones. I want to put Private parking/Tow Zone in front of the house too, since they always seem to part HUGE trucks/vans right in front of our house and close to the drive so we can't see if we're clear backing up. Also during the winter, parking there is HELL on us!!!

Wonder if I can do that?

I got towed once for accidently telling my friend to park my car in a nice clear spot (which was unfortunatly next to a handicap spot that I couldnt see the blue lines on the pavement). I was terrified it had been stolen but never once questioned the man/woman who called my car in. Hey you park there, you get towed. *shrug* my fault for not seeing the lines on the road, the BMW's fault for not reading your signs. I say they're fair game. TOW THEM!

The worst thing is that my super is MIA because he usually has these threatening looking, bright orange 'VIOLATION' stickers. I think that's the first step before the car gets towed. The super in my old building (close by) used to stand out in the parking lot and keep people who didn't live in the building from parking. I guess this is the peril of living right by the train station. People are in a hurry and just don't care. Well, I guess s/he won't care if their car gets towed, right?

Oh, and I called FI at work to tell him and he made me sound like a crazy woman for wanting to tow this person. At least I have my LIWeddings girls to back me up!

As much of an inconvienence this may be... posting a sign like this on a 'public' street I believe is illegal. If they wanted to take it a step further, the city could actually REMOVE the sign!

Oh well, I guess I'll stick with towing. Nice having the police so close. The last time though was tough. The cop ended up towing his girlfriend's sister's car. I had the neighbors in the apt complex across from us with their heads out the window looking on. One even screamed 'Don't tow her car, you know her'.

*sigh*

Can't wait to move.

I hear ya. Well believe me that hasn't stopped people from posting their own 'do not park' signs whether its illegal or not. It gets done everywhere. Ive noticed that homeowners seem to get VERY personal about the parking spot in front of their house... like they OWNED it or something.

Which leads me to a rather humorous rant. I remember I used to date a girl... and she would tell me 'if you drive to my house and the spot in front of the house is open... please DON'T park there cause thats my daddy's spot'. Now me being a city boy... this PISSED THE HELL out of me. Made me want to park there just out of spite. Its not your goddam parking spot. You don't own it. It doesn't have 'daddy' written on it. Godforbid you have to walk 50 feet to get to your house!

Out of respect... I didn't park there unless I was just going there to pick her up and we were immediately leaving. I would have to park a few houses down. But man that annoyed the crap out of me. I would laugh so hard under my breath when the neighbors had company over and parked in 'his' spot. Not like he would tell them to move... but me i'm fair game.

Anyways... if they are on your property... just have them removed.

Well if they didn't park so CLOSE to the drive it wouldn't be so bad. But they park with their bumper RIGHT on the limits of a car in the drive. Makes it impossible to pull out and go that direction!!

I just love the time we came home to find someone parked in front of the house.. far enough away from the drive... but actually ON the sidewalk!! A nice pretty shiny black SUV.. but gimme a break!

We are the third building from the corner. The corner building is a bodega. The second building/house is an Insurance/Travel place. We (us poor ba$tards) are the only single family home on the whole block, the only house that isn't a business.

Its aggravating!
