If other people's children annoy you....

Original post by kmcwed

does that mean you won't make a good mom??

I find myself really annoyed both other people's kids sometimes. They can really get on my last nerve. It makes me worry that I won't be a good mom, or that I shouldn't have kids.

What do you think?

Thank goodness I am not the only one feeling this way. I don't have many children in my life. I only see most of them on holidays or birthday parties. I do have one that is contstantly in my life and his habits I know he picked up from his mother. Which aren't good obviously. He does annoy me now but that is because he is in the 'Curious George' stage as I call it. He wants to know everything about anything.

I feel like I don't like children when I see parents with them at stores, restaurants or plain out in the street. Why you are walking around with your 5 year old daughter at 10:00 pm doesn't make sense to me. Why you are letting you child scream at the top of their lungs at the supermarket for attention, doesn't make sense to me. I do love children, when they are good. But those bad little kids, irritate me. This is where I say, its the parents fault these children came out this way. They are either spoiled, lacking attention or who knows what. My favorite is when a mother is talking to someone and I hear the child say mom, mom, mom, mom, mom. HELLO MOM answer your child for crying out loud!

The 2 children to which I am referring, always are this way, its such a shame, they embarass their parents in public.

my friends son is such a TERROR and she doesnt reprimand him for his actions, he would break stuff in my home and she would not say anything to him
Needless to say after a talk i had with her, he doesnt come here anymore

Wanda,

Don't know if I agree 100% on this....

My favorite is when a mother is talking to someone and I hear the child say mom, mom, mom, mom, mom. HELLO MOM answer your child for crying out loud

While I think the mother should acknowledge the child, I feel the child is in the wrong in that situation. He/she needs to learn that they are not supposed to interrupt other people's conversations. That's one of the things that annoys me the most. You simply cannot have a conversation around my sister's kids. She can't even have a phone conversation! It's impossible.

I think an appropriate response would be to say to the child, 'Just a moment, mommy's talking.' or 'I'll speak to you in a minute when I'm finished speaking with ------.'

But a child who stands there and says, 'Mom, mom, mom, mom....' has obviously learned that that kind of behavior will get them attention. I think letting a child over-ride your adult conversations is spoiling them, and not teaching them to respect others, or to wait their turn.

Hope that doesn't make me sound like Mommie Dearest!!
