If you are/did get married at the hall in the daytime....(Poll)

....did/will you see each other before hand? yes i know this has been talked about a LOT. but FH and i were dead set against it. but now we were discussing it last nite, and he's changed his mind. he thinks we should knock out pics before the ceremony, so we can enjoy the CH

i was gonna do the traditional route and not even be at the CH -- and just be announced at the reception, so i was okay with missing the CH and taking pics. but now think we may feel 'rushed' to get all the shots done. our ceremon is early-- 11:15 a.m.!! i have no idea what to do. he's 'leaving the decision up to me' and i am TORN!! HELP!!

we are in the same boat we hav decided to see each other before hand do all the family and most bridal party pics then after the Ceremony take just the remaining few pics that are left so we can break it up a bit so we will only miss 20min of CH we also extended the CH to and hour and 1/2

We didn't want to see each other before and we wanted the CH, so I am taking my family pics/BP pics before (as is he) and then we are taking our pics together and with the entire BP during CH. Plus we extended the CH to 2 hours!

Re: If you are/did get married at the hall in the daytime....(Poll)

We did our pics before the ceremony, and it was great. It did not effect that 'moment' of seeing eachother when I was walking down the aisle. If anything, it made things better. DH told me he was really nervous, and then as soon as he saw me, he totally calmed down.
The photographer set up a private moment where we saw each other for the first time which was wonderful. We didn't get to attend the whole cocktail hour because we had to take a few more pictures that couldn't be done before the ceremony, but I am glad we got to see some of it because it was really beautiful, and I got to greet some of our guests there. Actually I wish we could have been at the entire CH, which was our original plan.

I totally agree. We are seeing each other before and taking pictures. We upgraded the CH and I really don't want to miss it. Also, we can greet everyone at the CH and enjoy the party....I think its even nicer when you see each other in private and they capture that in the video and the photos.
Sometimes you really don't get that effect walking down the aisle. JMO

We are not seeing each other before, and we are getting married early. This is what we are doing.

9:30 Ceremony
by 10:30, leave the church and take 30 min ride to reception hall.
From 11 to 12:30 take pictures.
12:30 enjoy cocktail hour and so on.

It can be done. Good luck!

I entertained for 5 seconds not seeing each other before hand, but yes - I want to get some of the pics out of the way and enjoy the CH myself - so we will see each other before hand....

I'm going to do something like this because I don't want to see each other before hand. I'm confident that if you have a good photographer they will get the job done.

Re: If you are/did get married at the hall in the daytime....(Poll)

We are getting married at 10:30 a.m. and the CH starts at 1:00 p.m. so, we will have approximately 1 hour before the CH starts to take pictures. I am such a traditionalist and would not consider seeing my FI before the ceremony. But you do what is best for you, thats really what matters. Good luck.

We are waking up together that morning and separating only to get ready. We are meeting at Old Westbury Gardens for photos at 9am. We are then going to stay together until right before our ceremony at 12.

Re: If you are/did get married at the hall in the daytime....(Poll)

can you either:

a) extend your cocktail hour?

b) add a champagne time for your guests during which you take your pics and they mingle and drink... then the cocktail hour begins after you're done with the pics and you join them for that?

My friend is doing something like that where there's a gap for pics between the ceremony and the CH/reception time. Is there anyone after you? Can you ask your reception site about doing this?

well so far i haven't found any brides from here or on the knot that are marrying at my hall the same day. so maybe i could have them extend it. but i'm pretty sure that we won't be able to afford it. this wedding has cost soooooooooo much more than we thought it would. i find myself gathering loose change so i can get change rolls together!!

while i am still unsure--i have a feeling we are going to lean towards taking pics before. i told my mom about it, and she FLIPPED OUT. of course i had to pull the 'i'm the bride' card on her. lol

for already married ladies who did this--please share experiences!
