We are getting married there because we are not very religious at all, and sometimes- it seems easier not to have that break in the middle
but I think its BEAUTIFUL both ways.
We would have done a Temple if religious....

Two reasons for us... RH too far from our church, we have a lot of out of town guest. We aren't too religious but we are getting married by a priest and we will have a small church ceremony with just our families!!!

I chose to have my cermony at RH b/c I feel that the Most Important part is the Cermony. And Not everybody goes to the 'church', they have some excuse and they just end up going to RH.

This was something we thought about for a long time.. Even though I'm Catholic (and there are weird rules about not getting married outside), we both liked the idea of getting married outside. It was a more neutral place, where we could incorporate religion and our own personalities in our own way. And it's beautiful!

I am not nearly as religious as FH and he's Catholic and I am not. I have always dreamed about getting married outside on the beach, but the beach was too expensive so next to a lake is the next best thing. FH was okay with getting married outside since he knew I always wanted that. The only thing is the Catholic faith won't except our marriage unless we get married in the church so after we get back from our HM at somepoint we are having another simple ceremony at his church here in 'nati and party to celebrate with everyone who was not able to attend our wedding in NY.

I never thought of that - but that's really a good point.
We aren't religious, and we wanted an outdoor ceremony on the water...

I wanted to get married in the Catholic church (Im Cath, FH is Protestant) but it didnt work out. FH was previously married (and has a child) and the Catholic church wanted him to get the marriage annulled (which he was fine with and willing to do) bc they recognized his previous marriage (as they got married in a church), but the annullment apparently wouldnt have gone through in time for when we wanted to get married. Our faith is really impt to us so at first this was really disappointing to us. But its working out for the best. We like the style of wedding we'll have at the OFC! And our officiant is going to make it a Christ-centered ceremony and thats the most impt thing to us!
ETA: and just like NY2Cincinnati, we will prob (get the annullment down the road and) do a marriage blessing in the Cath church.

well...i definitely wouldnt do a church but im jewish. but if we were to get married in a temple we would have had to have the reception there and i didnt want that. plus ive always wanted an outdoor ceremony. i hope i get that.

for us it was the fact that our temple wasn't really close to the places we liked and we have a lot of OOTers who aren't familiar with LI roads... in the end it just seemed too complicated. plus since we're taking pics before the ceremony it seemed natural to just move across the hall to the cocktail hour instead of having to worry about limos, weather, etc.

we prefer to be married in a church, but since we're from NJ and our church is here it's been hard to find a church to accomodate us on LI. Our home Pastor is going to marry us at the Bourne. It'll be really nice because we'll be able to have the ceremony however we wanted it. If we had chosen to have our ceremony in a church outside of our denomination we would have had to go along with their traditions.

Its just so much easier lol...plus no one has to travel from the church to the RH..and there isnt a large period of time between the church and CH

FH has was married before. Also it was just more convenient, since there are a lot of OOT guest.

1) Convenience: we are paying one flat rate for the set up, use of room, and flowers.
2) No need for all the religious stuff: DH and i are both raised catholic , but do not attend church anymore. i didn't feel like having to do all the pre-cana, FOCUS, meetings, etc. to a priest to kind of justify why we are marrying
3)Agnostic: DH and i are both non-believers in church in general....while we do believe in God, we just don't think ppl should have to go to church and such for their faith. our ceremony was spiritual more than anything
3)Easier for our guests: no need for them to come out to two locations at all...just park your car and stay for the ceremony, CH, and reception. can't tell ya how many guests said they LOVED that

Re: If you are getting married at your RH, what was your reasoning for choosing that?
my FH is not religious at ALL. i'm not the most religious, but i was brought up Roman Catholic, so it's been a struggle in my mind that I'm not getting married in the church. FH would've been open to it, except for the Precana thing - he said he would refuse to raise his kids Catholic. plus, we've been living together for almost 4 years and they're not big fans of that. . .but in the end, i'm getting married on the beach, which was the only way i would comrpomise. i'm pretty excited about it now.
