If you are on the Pill.....

How often do you go to the gyno?

My friends and I were talking about this. Almost all of them only go once a year for the exam and new perscription. MY doc. makes me go every 6mos or he won't renew my Pill!!! THey couldnt believe I go 2X a year....they told me to get a new doctor.

So I am wondering if this is really strange that I go every 6mos and if I should really find a new doctor.

When I was on the pill I had to go every 6 months also. Personally I'd rather have a doctor that goes on the side of caution.

It's also good to keep on top of breast exams and pap smears by going every 6 months.

I get mine from a clinic here in the UK. I have to go every 6 months and meet with the doctor, but ti's only a few minutes and they just take my blood pressure and weigh me and ask me how I am.

In the states, I only went once a year. The doctor prescribed the pill in 6 month increments, but I could call in for a renewal, I didn't have to go see her. My insurance only covered one visit per year.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess it really depends on your doctor...but at least I know its not highly unusual that I go 2x a year.

I was with my 5 closest girlfriends and they were all looking at me like I had 10 heads when I told them how often I go.

I used to go once a year and then my old doctor left the group and my new doctor wants me to come every six months.

All mine have always been 2X when on the pill - I asked once and was told this was a SUPPOSED to be the standard in the industry BUT not all dr's adhere to it - I think the better/more cautious ones do.

I've been on the pill since I was 19, and I've always had to every 6 months for a pelvic exam. I have a Pap smear once a year. I just changed gynos b/c I moved and it's the same policy.

Every six months. Full checkup each time, pap smear every other (once per year). My gyno actually tells me he likes when women are willing to go on the pill because it guarantees that they'll be in for their exams since he won't refill without being there.

i only go once a year. and i've switched doctors like 3 times in the past five years and they've all been once a year. they even give me the prescription for the whole year. interesting. i'm glad, i hate the dr.
