IS anyone using prerecorded music? I want canon D, but if I wanted it live it would be BIG bucks

I am using the church organist. I don't see anything wrong with prerecorded music though. I think our DJ offered it to us.

The string quartet we are using for the cocktail hour also does ceremony music and they really aren't expensive. I bet they wouldn't charge much for just the ceremony.

Linds I was thinking the same thing! I spent all morning looking into ceremony music.

I wanted a quartet, just to play at my ceremony as guests are seated, prelude songs and as we exit. They wanted $350!! I am not a cheap person but that sounded like a lot for what maybe 30 minutes of music!?!?!?!?

maybe try posting on craigslist? kids from a different HS might be willing to travel or maybe from a school in that area so then they wouldn't even have to travel far.

Did you try looking on craigslist.org. Sometimes musicians put listings on there of their services.

I am totally with you on this. I love love love the way canon in d sounds with strings but FH thinks it is not worth the extra money to spend if there is an organist. I did not like the way it sounded on the organ at all. I posteda thread on the VHB forum and I did get some quotes back. The best one being MA Stack. I think for a trio it was only like $600 versus others that charge about 425 per string person. I'm still trying to convince FH to go for it. I played some demos for him today and I almost have him convinced.
Someone once mentioned something about local schools who will do ceremony music. I forget who this was but I will check my FM and forward it to you so you can take a look.

I used to play the violin at ceremonies and cocktail hours. I suggest you send an email to the head of the music department at ANY university and they will ask their students. Trust me, any music major is definitely qualified to play a ceremony...it is serious cometition and only the best are accepted.

Craigslist as well...I used to go on there for gigs.

Canon also sounds beautiful on the harp...something to think about!

Is one violinist going to have enough depth of sound for classical pieces. I am all for this but not sure how it will sound since I've mostly heard trios or quartets?
