I used to play the violin at ceremonies and cocktail hours. I suggest you send an email to the head of the music department at ANY university and they will ask their students. Trust me, any music major is definitely qualified to play a ceremony...it is serious cometition and only the best are accepted.
Craigslist as well...I used to go on there for gigs.
Is one violinist going to have enough depth of sound for classical pieces. I am all for this but not sure how it will sound since I've mostly heard trios or quartets?
I have heard samples with one string instrument in conjunction with piano or organ and it does sound nice. I think its more or less a matter of taste though. And the musical talent of the person playin of course

I don't personally think one violin is enough...there is no harmony to it and sounds flat . Do not pay for a violin with an organ!!! The organ overpowers the violin so much and it's a waste. 2 violins sounds really nice or a violin and a viola or violin and cello. the harp really shouldn't play with a violin either because they learn the same songs in different keys and unless they play together often...it could be a disaster...know that from experience unfortunately

art strings actually quoted me almost $1000 for the quartet for 1 hour. I got 2 much cheaper quotes for 1.5 hours

We're doing Cannon in D but I don't like the organ either so they are playing it on the piano. The church has a piano there already so they gave us the option. I love it on piano.
