if you block rooms and...

Original post by bridy06

they don't get booked... do you (me) have to pay?

I am looking to book some hotels in Woodbury but wasn't sure if this 'rumor' is true...

At least that was my experience at the Hyatt.... you sign a contract...

i can only speak for Fox Hollow, but if you book rooms at the Inn and do not use them, you are responsible for paying for half the rooms.

Crap! I was planning to do the Fox Hollow or the Executive Inn - which I think has a similar policy.

I blocked 10 rooms with the Winngate Inn and they said that if they are not booked within a certain time before the wedding then they are realsed back with the avialable rooms. No way do I have to pay for them.

I went to Woodbury Best Western, and no you don't get stuck paying for them if you do not get all the rooms you blocked booked. You don't have to pay for anything at all

30 days before the wedding, if you have any remaining rooms that did not get booked, they just get released back into the system.

If anyone books after that 30 day cut off - they 'try' to give them the discounted rate.

That's what they told me at least

Depends on the hotel. My hotel was willing to give me a better price ($20 less per room) and if 10 rooms weren't blocked, I was responsible. For the slightly higher price, I wouldn't be on the hook and I took this option. Regardless, if reservations aren't made by the guests 1 month prior, the rooms are released.

Not at the Huntington Hilton.

If they don't get used a month before hand, they release them back into the general pool and will get more $$$ for them.

Depends on the hotel, with the Wingate, if the rooms are not booked by Apr 6, 2006, the block of rooms will get released back into normal availability and we would lose the discounted price. But I wouldn't be liable for any charges if the rooms don't get booked or if we only book a few rooms instead of the whole block.

We're also using the Wingate...

Each hotel is very different I'm finding out. Do your research ladies!
