never had a budget, but between everything to the smallest detail I would say maybe between $50-60k if not more. I really don't want to put it down on paper because I kind of think sometimes that we could have had a beautiful wedding if we (I) would have been smart about it and really planned out a budget.

I'm actually a little stressed out now reading everyone elses wedding costs. I never really had a budget either and compared to everyone on here, it sounds like the cost of my wedding is over the top... I just kind of assumed it is hard to have an inexpensive wedding in NY, but looking at some of your $'s, Im thinking we really could be having a beautiful wedding for way less than what everything is coming out to...

Trust me it is not hard to have an inexpensive wedding read my comments on how much I'm spending (scroll up) FH & I decided since my Mom is throwing us an engagement party we would invite whomever our parents wanted but, for the wedding we are deciding who is coming and since FH is the yongest of 8 kids it would most likely be 90% family and 10% friends & we are only having between 80-100 people & we are having an adult only wedding ( except like REALLY close kids that are family) and getting married on a non-tradtional day .....OMG we saved soooo much

Unfortunately FH and I didn't go into planning with a budget (which was a huge mistake). We totaled everything we have paid or signed a contract to pay and we're at about the $60K mark including HM. While we are paying for the majority ourselves our parents have contributed about $20k.

Its really about choosing what is important to you. The little things really go unnoticed. We cut out a lot of things we thought we would do as the costs kept rising. You can definitely have a gorgeous wedding and spend less. Research is key and cutting out things that you don't need will definitely help.

a lot of it depends on the vendors you book - our wedding was pretty expensive b/c of 3 things - most of the cost went to the RH, photo and video - between those 3 vendors i spent more than a lot of the budgets that girls posted on this thread.....we could have def cut a lot of costs by not having extra's at the RH and by using other photo/video vendors but those 3 things were all the things/vendors that i really wanted - so i dont regret it one bit - and somehow you figure out how to pay for it all - dont stress it....

We are in the 60's
And not done yet!!!!!

Its fuuny when you start you never imagine the cost rising to these large numbers, believe me I have shopped, took numerous quotes, worked on comparisons andgot great deals - major expense is the catering hall - our reception is for 300 people... I know you gotta love BIG Families!

But I am sure this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and my finacee, we are enjoying the experience and making the best of it. When I look back 20 years from now - hopefully I'll be so glad I did it and would probably still wish I had the Ice Luge...LOL

Re: If you dont mind me asking...

Everything related to the wedding- including tips, bp gifts ect... is going to be just under $40 grand. Our budget was $35 so we came close.

The honeymoon we never budgeted for but managed to get that for under $15 grand....not bad for what we are doing.

You can do LOTS with any budget. I got an AMAZING price at my RH so I went big with DJ package and live Mariachi dinner show and quartet. I cut back on flowers crypacks/petal cones/ card box ect... to accomodate our honeymoon. It's all about choices.

You are so right. It definitely is all about the vendors. I could have easily went with a less expensive band, photographer, venue, florist, dress etc, but without a real budget for all the vendors I just kind of picked everything I loved and didnt think twice. I know I am going to have an amazing wedding, and Im lucky enough to have parents paying for it all, but Im realizing that If I had shopped around a bit I could have saved them a lot of money...
Its sickening how much these things could cost for 6 hours of your life!!

Re: If you dont mind me asking...

my poor, sweet DH seemed to think that a wedding couldn't possibly cost more than $1,000. He's of course not from New York, and he's a MAN so what can you expect?

We did need to keep a low budget though - definitely lower than what most have you seem to have spent. We basically stayed within a couple thousand of our budget. When I explained to DH how much a wedding can cost, he was very impressed with how well I did. A lot of DIY projects and booking with New vendors who are still working on getting their names out there (so they charge less than a well known vendor). It really was the wedding of my dreams. I couldn't have asked for anything more

Oh and to Lau0614...the bride that doesnt know how you can have a wedding under $20k...you are more than welcome to look at my review...its doeable! Believe me.

When I started planning my wedding my budget was $18K but with a little haggling, and alot of web searching it looks like i will be bringing this in under $15K for 75 people including HM.

You can check out my review also. I was DEFINITELY under 20K. Much closer to 10K in fact, and my wedding was perfect for me. People at my wedding had assumed that I had spent sooo much more than I did. It's definitely doable, but I guess it depends on HOW you spend the money you've got. Gotta do a lot of shopping around.

Our budget is $25,000

Now we're way under at only $13k spent so far, but theres still so much to do

Re: If you dont mind me asking...

We're spending about $18K for 150 people at a beautiful venue. FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves so we are being very budget conscious. So we are having a Saturday morning instead of evening wedding, no video, but only photographer with prints and then we will get albums after the wedding. And we have friends who are professional DJ's, who are helping us out!

Don't stress out about it! Sometimes I look at other girls pictures on here and see such beautiful things I get depressed...but then I start thinking and don't let it get me down because you know what our day will be beautiful because I'm marrying my best friend which is what's most important. Don't worry about spending too much or too less just do what works for you and FH!

Re: If you dont mind me asking...

So far FH & I spent a total of 25000 including everything.
15K for RH
600 Photographer (great! Won a contest!)
1795 for Videographer
$0 for DJ (Won at TWOTY)
2K for Honeymoon
1K for Limo
The rest of the amt was applied to BM dresses, GM tuxes, invitations, rehearsal dinner & other personalized things.

We are not going over budget at all! THank god!
