because your FI was sick....would you want to just postpone it and do it exactly how you planned at another time or would you just want to do something small away somewhere later on?

I do not know the extent of your circumstances, But I sincerely hope that you and your Fh are OK, I say get married now and see what hapens. My heart goes out to you and hope that you both are ok!!!

My thoughts are with you and your FH and families.

Maybe you can talk to a priest and have a very small intimate church wedding - just immediate family and no pomp and circumstance? And a small party afterwards if it's not too much for your FH?

Then when he is better, you can have a 'blessing' as the 'bigger' wedding and a reception.

UPDATE - If you had to cancel your wedding after a year of planning....

Well, I just wanted to give an update as to how my FI is doing. We still have no real diagnosis however, he is on some treatment and is doing a little better.

About a month ago we were canceling the wedding...but TODAY we decided to move forward and have the wedding May 1st!! We are really excited about it and the only thing we are changing is we won't go to Hawaii. We will do a low key honeymoon where we can just relax at a resort.

SOOOOO, ladies....can I do this....I have no invitations, no bridesmaid dresses, no flower girl dress, no make-up or hair person etc.....and I am getting married in 104 days...YIKES!!!

You can definitly do this. I would get moving though. I ordered my invitations on line and got them within 72 hours, or they were shipped in 72 hours I can' remember.

An BM dresses, I would suggest going to Davids bridal, since they seem to be the quickest in ordering, just don't get them altered there.

I am sorry to hear you all still don't have a real diagnosis. I pray he gets better.

I think you can do it May. I just had a friend last year planned a FABULOUS wedding in six months. It can be done.

Especially with all the info you get from this board.

Sorry to hear he's so sick.

But yes, I'd get married before the big day. I actually did myself. A simple small civil ceremony. Marriage to us was about 'us'. Through richer and poorer.. for us...always poorer.

We are still having the Big day.. just a year later.

If he'd been sick (or me cause i have issues) just before the day and we hadn't been 'legally' married, Im sure we'd have eloped then pushed off the big fantasy marriage for a later time.

YES, you can do it within 5 months. Everything you listed, I did so close to my wedding. As a matter of fact, I finally booked my hair stylist 2 days before the wedding.
