If you were a guest at my wedding...

would you prefer a seating chart, place cards or if possible both. I want it to be different. Our families and friends alway see place cards.

Seating chart just because it's different.

either. I've never been to one with a seating chart, but as long as my name is there, it works for me

this is soooooooooo true

I think we all really want to be different .. and i like seeing unique ideas .. but ultimately, the place cards are not the biggest thing I look for at a wedding

ETA: I did vote for placecards, however, because the few times I've seen the seating charts, its turned into a lot of confusion ... esp. at big weddings .. personally I love the idea, tho

SoontobeMrsZ: you're too funny. We went to a bridal shower last weekend and they spelled my cousins' name wrong. Her name is Diana, and they wrote: Dallahna.

Is it okay if we put the seating chart on a table with flowers or does it have to be put on an easel (sp?)?

I have been to 2 weddings that had seating charts rather then placecards - it was chaios! Seriously it was mad confusion and the line grew so long as people tried to figure it out and find their name.

As a result I voted for placecards. If you want to be unique get some really cool placecard holders.

I think a chart on a small stand on a table with flowers or rosepetals all around can look REALLY nice

Would the seating chart actually tell the person what seat to sit in, in addition to telling them the table? If so, then I would prefer the cards. I think it would be weird to have an assigned seat. If both just have the table name or number than either would be fine.

FH thinks that his 'elderly' family won't understand the concept of the seating chart and they'll look for place cards.....????!!!!

I know my elders would prefer the place cards, but the younger people would use the seating chart. I'll probably do both.

I need things to be different, because a family member of mine is getting married later this year, and I had no clue that she was copying my ideas.

That has been my experience with seating charts as well. Placecards always see to be less confusing for some reason.

if you REALLY ant to be differnt, put allteh table #s in a bowl & have peopel pick them as them come in.
Seating free for all! FH & I keep saying we will do that so we don't have to to table assignments & so people will mingle, but we usually are kidding.

I think.

I voted placecards because I never remember where I am sitting. I look at the thing, I walk into the room and I completely forget where I am going....I get sidetracked talking to people, etc....

as you could probably tell I also have problems walking and chewing gum though!

Thats actually a REALLY good point!!! I know alot of the older people might forget and honestly so would I .. you are so busy talking to family / friends on the way that I would forget esp. if it was a big wedding with alot of tables lol
so I change my vote from seating chart to placecards.

I dont understand the part about 'there is always a huge line and chaos' wouldn't there be for placecards as well?

I'm still undecided, . I told my mom and she just laughed at me.
