would you expect to have unlimited beer? there would already be unlimited wine.
im currently trying to help out with a friend's baby shower and am helping my mother with my own bridal shower since my sis is MIA, and i see packages with unlimited wine.
would you think it'd look cheap to have soda, coffee, cappucino, and wine, but NO beer?
thanks

Re: if you were invited to a bridal or baby shower...
i don't really think a shower is the place to get liquored up...haha...i think wine is fine! especially a baby shower? Mom can't drink! That's kind of mean to have everyone drinking when she can't..but that is JMO!

I agree I think that having unlimited wine at a bridal shower would be sufficient enough. I wouldn't neccesarilly go out of my way to also have unlimited beer available.

i've never heard of alcohol being served at a baby shower........I'm obviously going to the wrong ones!!!!!
In regards to the bridal shower though, I don't think there is anything wrong with just serving wine. If people don't like wine, there are other options for them........
Don't stress out!!!!!

For a baby shower wine is fine. For a bridal shower, unless you have a bunch of beer drinkers over the wino's, than I'd say go with beer as well.

Wine is just fine.
The way I see it.........your shower is a nice, elegant affair. Not elegant in the sense of black tie, but elegant in the sense of the wonderful women in your life surrounding you for some yummy simple food and happiness, in sharing with you all your gifts. What better drink to serve than wine...elegant and yummy.
Not that beer is not elegant, I do enjoy cerveza myself, but wine is plenty...no need to add more girlfriend...knowing you, your menu will be yummy and family will be fun....keep costs to a minimum

same here. all the showers i've been to where unlimited soda, water, coffee, tea, etc. with usually some type of champagne punch or mimosas.
at my shower the only alcohol was a punch bowl, and ppl really liked it. but it wasn't like anyone was like 'Where's the hooch!'

Re: if you were invited to a bridal or baby shower...
My baby shower was this past weekend. They had soda, juices, coffee, tea, wine & a champagne/sherbert punch.
ONE person actually did ask the hostess (my MOH) for a beer. Apparently, she doesn't drink wine. Maybe buy a 6 or a 12 pack if you want but I doubt you'll need it. Wine should be more than sufficient. Also, we had 20 people & I think we went through 8 bottles of wine. Half the crowd was young (25-35) and the other half was older (45-70). The older people drank the punch & soda.
Hope this helps!
ETA : my shower was at a home, not a restuarant or caterer. If you are doing it at a place, maybe do cash bar?

I don't think showers are ordinarily the places where they serve liquor or have an open bar

At my sisters showers (bridal and then baby) we only had spiked punch. Showers are usually a mid day gathering for ladies not a boozing party. I would not concern yourself with supplying liquor.

I agree... and showers are expensive enough without a bar bill... if guests are that concerned with drinking then they can buy a drink.

if you have alcohol at a bridal shower, maybe just a champagne punch...no beer, no wine...
