If you were really rich, would you buy your own engagement ring?
So, Britney bought her own e-ring. I feel like it is the sentiment behind the ring that is important, and even if I had a tiny stone (or none) it's the feelings that matter. But, if you were Britney, knowing your ring would be all over the magazines, would you buy your own huge rock?

Good question...I think a certain amount of 'manhood' goes into the whole process...DH loves the fact that he worked crazy amounts of OT to get my ring, and he is so proud of it, so I would not want to take that feeling from him.

No, I would want it to come from my DH. The only way I would buy my own is if he really couldn't afford it. I didn't even help Brad pick my ring out..he did it on his own, and I was really happy he did it that way.

i wouldnt buy my own ring even if i had to get a smaller sized ring so my fiance could afford it i would. i think it takes the sentiment out of it if you purchase it yourself

I would pay for the purchase, but I would want DH there with me so we could pick it out together. He doesn't know anything about jewelery, but I would still want him to be a part of the process, otherwise - what's the point?
Besides, Britney is a skank anyway. Kevin probably couldn't afford that ring even if he sold his trailer hee hee

I don't think I would, I would rather help him out but let him purchase it even if it was small. That is what happned to us, we just got married, no proposal because it was a mutual decision but later on in the marriage, he gave it to me and I picked it, even though it's not as big as everyone around here has. We will probably upgrade it in the future.

Well, for me, we picked it out together anyway--we didn't have a traditional proposal, So while it wnet onhis card, I felt like 'WE' bought it. And if I happened to be th eone with the higher credit limti we would haveput it on my card.
Once you are married its all comunal moeny anyway. AWe thoguht that way before we were married too.
The ring doesn't matter that much, but I wouldn't want to pickit out & pay for it all by myself witout any invlovement from him, b/c then its like marrying your damn self.

Never. I just love how DH got soooooo into the whole process, while I had absolutely no clue. That he took weeks, and weeks, and weeks, to visit every jeweler close to where he works, and kept looking until he found the setting that he thought fit my style exactly. He knows more about diamonds now than I do (when I went to get my band custom-made, he gave me a 1/2 lecture on what to tell them and what to look for). And, the fact that he spent so much time thinking about how to propose, and planning a big 'engagement' trip to Switzerland to go along with it. And, how adorably nervous he was. I LOVE it, and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, including a bigger, more expensive ring.

if i was rich i'd probably pay for it... why not? once you get married all the money is both of yours anyway . . . but I wouldn't go pick it out by myself.... then it wouldn't really be from him. he worked so hard to get it . .. . even flew out of state for the ring he chose. and i love it. it's perfect.

NO WAY. When we got engaged I made signifcantly more than my DH and there was never a time I thought I would buy my own ring. That is down right ridiculous.
