If you were really rich, would you buy your own engagement ring?
Original post by nov04LIbride
So, Britney bought her own e-ring. I feel like it is the sentiment behind the ring that is important, and even if I had a tiny stone (or none) it's the feelings that matter. But, if you were Britney, knowing your ring would be all over the magazines, would you buy your own huge rock?

Good question...I think a certain amount of 'manhood' goes into the whole process...DH loves the fact that he worked crazy amounts of OT to get my ring, and he is so proud of it, so I would not want to take that feeling from him.
Same here!!

I like that answer- for me, I was surprised and it was very special being out of the loop on this. I agree

IMO I think that the engagement ring should be bought only by the man. I guess I'm traditional in the sense that women should not purchase their own ring. If I were a millionaire and my FH was definitely NOT. I would rather wear a chip of a diamond that he bought me and worked hard for then walk around with a 5 ct. ring that I bought myself. Don't get me wrong I love beautiful engagement rings, but what it symbolizes is far more beautiful.

i dont think that i would but it. it is tradition for the man to purchase it and i would leave it the way for the surprise.
