If your Fh/DH got invited to a wedding without out you:
would you be terribly upset?
I ask this because a friend of FH is in a wedding, the guy and his fiancee are about to send out invites, and they told everyone in the wedding party that due to cutbacks that they are NOT allowed to bring guests. The fianceof FH's friend is very upset.
My Fh being the sensitive person that he is says that she has to deal with it and understand that it is beyond her control.
I, myself am on a budget and being extremely cognizant of my guest list, but I would NEVER invite a wife without her husband or vice versa, or a seriously involved couple without the other. IMO, it is just not right.

I agree with you.
If you are seriously involved then they are to be invited.

Len wouldn't go w/o me. He might even be so angry he wouldn't go even if they later said OK. I personally think that's disrespectful.

Tht's crazy. We were on a tight budget for our weding too, but I was sure to give all the BP the option of bringing a guest. And for regular guests, if they were in a relationship that was established, then I gave them the option to bring that person, otherwise I didn't.
I would never not invite the fiance of someone! That's clearly an established relationship.

I would be upset!! I personally don't like being invited to a wedding w/o a guest in general, but that happens and is understandable, but NEVER when the person is married/engaged. That's rude IMO.

Ben would NOT go w/o me and I am saying this from experience. He was asked to be in a wedding and I was not. HE REFUSED to accept if I wasn't his partner. I INSISTED he be in it but he was adamant. Just plain wrong in my opinion.

I think it is disrespectful too.
I understand everyone is on a budget but you have to cognizant of people's feelings.
Our friends fiancee does not want him to go, but since he is in the wedding he has no choice.

That's very poor etiquette. There is no reason to not invite someone's spouse or fiance. And generally, doesn't the BP have the option to bring guests or not? I can't imagine these guests having a good time at this wedding without their spouses or fiances. I would probably not go to a wedding without DH and vice versa.

Totally ridiculous and rude. If they couldn't afford the guests, don't have the wedding.

That's disrespectful to the BP. They chose these people because they want them to support them when they are getting married. Ridiculous!

Thats just against all etiquette rules!!! if the person is seriously involved with someone (married, engaged, long term) then its only right to invite person with the significant other.... thats just tacky! if you can't afford it, then don't invite the couple at all!!!

ditto ditto ditto!
If I were in the position where I couldn't afford to invite even my closest friends with their future spouses - I would re-think the type of wedding I was having vs. the situation you discribed.

Re: If your Fh/DH got invited to a wedding without out you:
Thats horrible. I can understand inviting non-bridal party wedding guests that are not in a relationship without a guest, but never a bridal party member and never someone who is seriously involved with someone.
My FH had a friend from HS that went to our college (where FH and I met) and they were in the same fraternity at school and we would all hang out (FH and I and his friend and his girlfriend) but we were not very close with them. Well, the summer after the friend graduated he got engaged and invited only my FH! We weren't engaged then but had been together for 3 years at that point - my FH didn't go and 3 years after that, we're not inviting them to ours (and we don't keep in touch with them).

Thats terrible and even worst that he is in the wedding. My bridal party could bring anyone. Even though most of them didn't bring anyone but please as much money as the bridal party spends on account of us that is a disgrace to tell them they can't bring a guest less more a FH or DH.
I would drop out of that wedding with the quickness.

I agree with Neva - I would drop outof the party. If this close friend has no problem being that disrespectful to me and my future spouse, it is not a person I would want to continue a relationship with. This would make it more inappropriate to stand up with them on their wedding day.
