Depends. What do you mean by 'a bad relationship'?

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

if he was abusing and/or cheating on her then yes....If he just annoyed me and I didn't like or get along with him for some reason, then no.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

If you just mean that you think your friend can do better,I wouldn't say anything. Love is blind and I think someone would be annoyed if you told them that.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

Nope. They have to realize it on their own.

And for the most part, I think people know when they're in a bad relationship. It's whether they choose to do something about it.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

Too controlling, calling her a 100x. Complaining she is late all the time and she is with her family.
Always arguing about why she wants to go out. And never ends up going anyway b/c she feels to bad for him.

Wanda- clarify!!!!

I have a close male friend whose GF I do not really like for him. I hope they break up, but I do not tell him.

He has to find out for himself.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

My friends have been in bad relationships - some of them I can talk to and some of them I can't. One of them always says, thanks for not saying anything because you know I would just shut you out of you did. There's no helping some people!

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

I probably wouldn't tell her. If she doesn't see it when it is happening to her, it's not going to do any good to try and tell her. Chances are she already knows anyway but thinks he will 'change'.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

No. I learned these lessons in HS - keep our of friends relationships - your friend is blinded by 'love' and won't heed your warning!
But my best friend married this a$$hole years ago...a few weeks b4 the wedding she confided in me that she was going to call things off b/c he was *still* lying and *still* cheating...that was when I told her how I felt about him and how much happier she would be if she didn't have to snoop thru her loved one's things to find out the truth. I felt she was coming to me for help and I gave it. She married him anyway...but they seperated a few months later.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

Jenny I don't agree. When I was in hs I was 'blinded' in love. I didn't know what was right or wrong. Only after I saw the light by my friends did I start thinking about things.
Especially if a friend starts complaining about her man, I will be honest and tell her how I feel. Whether she likes it or not.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

For instance one of my BMs. She was involved with this guy for over a year and a half. By the 5 month I knew he wasn't for her. I didn't say anything at this point. Everytime she stopped by FH's house to hang out with us, he would call. Everytime I would see her, he called to say nothing! She always dished out the money. Always paid for everything. Always made the extra effort to do things. Gave him things and he didn't appreciate it.
She then started telling me all these things saying I am sick of this, Wa I am getting tired of this, Wa this and Wa that... what did I do I told her you are right. If you don't like it, talk to him and it has to change. All I want is for you to be happy. You're not happy and satisfied with him and the relationship then get out.
But she let it go and continued in the relationship. 9 months later she finally sees the light and says Wa you are right I can't keep doing this. Well she complained, I told her the truth and she wouldn't see it. It took her this long to realize it and now she is happier than ever. It was SO bad that every conversation we had on the phone consisted of her complaining about him.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

But if your friend was complaining and stating 'I'm sick of this', she knew she was in a bad relationship and for whatever reason, she decided to remain in it. She finally decided to do something about it.

The most one can do is just listen and be there for their friends.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

One of my very close friends was with a guy for I think 3 years, first year he was great......after that, he would call her ugly, fat (she was gorgeous), berate her about every little thing she did or said truly made her feel like $#!t all the time. In front of me and our other friends. He hit her every once and a while. I hated to see her like that and I told her to wake up and get the h e l l away from him, that her relationship was not going to get better.

She didnt leave him. She did get pregnant with his son....and he left her. Has limited contact with the baby (he's 2 1/2 now).

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

My best friend right now is with this total loser. He is living off of her and not working. She doesn't trust him but in the meantime still hasn't left him. He is lazy and can't do anything for himself. I tell her everyday straightout and her eyes are wide opened, she knows very well whats going on. She says she wants to leave him but not ready. I am very straight forward with my friends and that is why my friends love me because I never hold anything back.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

I can't see a friend being so unhappy with someone or anything for that matter, complaining about it and not saying anything to her. I will be honest whether I agree or disagree with the person. All I say is this is just my opinion, explain and add you need to be happy. Whatever makes you happy makes me happy.

StayandJohn ((HUGS)) to your friend.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

Yeah, you can ask her if she is truly happy because they are always fighting or whatever but you shouldn't just tell her directly that he is not for her.
She may take it out on you and be angry.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

I was in a horrible relationship for 3 years. It was full of anger and control. BUT my best friend NEVER told me to get out or to leave. She listened to me, she offered 'michele you know you didn't deserve that type of reaction' words. And you know what the one time my sister did say 'I am sick of him. You need to leave this jerk' I was sooo pis$ed off. I told her that it HAD to be MY choice, not hers and this was my life.
I had to leave on my own, for my own reasons.
I do believe if someone puts a child in harm's way (such as an abusive home) I would 100% get involved and start talking. If my friend was being hurt, I would offer to help and offer to give her whatever support she needed. But typically I would wait for her to tell me about it, unless there are physical signs such as a black eye.

Re: If your friend was in a bad relationship would you tell her?

I never told anyone someone is not meant to be for them unless they started complaining the way this friend did. I am not one to yes someone to death so that they can hear what they want to hear. That isn't me.
