now that these brush fires are less than 5 miles from us...DH and I are just getting our documents together....and hinking about what we would take with us...
we are still optimistic, but they are saying these are the worst fires in 40 years...
so what would you take? I have my wedding album and other albums marriage license passports birth certificate
if the fire gets closer we are going to take out our hard drives
What would you takes? (hopefully I won't have to pack any of this up...but its good o be prepared...)

OMG I just read this through...are you okay?!?!?!!!!!! I'm freaking because my uncle is 9 miles away from the fires now and meanwhile here you are right there!!!! Are you still doing okay???

the fire in the city is 80% contained...so thats good news for me...but the fire is still burning out of control in the county...towns are just being leveled...its so sad....
the worst part for me know is the air quality...its so bad that DH is trying to get the rest of the week off so we can get out of here...
they say the air quality is 2x the federal maximum...so I have been in the house going on 4 days...and going crazy...as is the dog (poor thing had an accident last night, b/c I don't like to let him outside for long periods of time)
thanks for asking...I really can't believe how close it was to us...but the whole time I couldn' believe we were in any danger...I was laughing when we were packing up our stuff...
I still can't unpack yet, but we are fine...

OMG Erica!!!! That is way too close!!! I am so glad that you are safe!!! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that your hubby gets the rest of the week off so you guys can get out of there!!! Keep us posted.

I had to look up Victorville...never heard of it...and its north of LA...my map is only of the San Diego fires...

Erica, I was thinking of you this morning, last night on Nightline on Ch7 here in NY the same question you asked is a segment they had on, I fell asleep before they could get to it. I am glad you are doing well. Take care. I hope they get this fire under control soon.

Well, since DH and I were very close to the fires in San Diego, just south of Tierrasanta (which evacuated) We packed up our cars with:
Important documents, now that I think about it I forgot our marriage license!
some clothes, DH's golf clubs, some pet necessities, wedding photo albums, scrapbooks, and pictures.
We unpacked the cars since the fires have now moved away.
