does that imply that your wedding is more on the INFORMAL side? I'm looking around at invites and I want something different, maybe even a little funky, something memorable.... but some of the colored ones seem to say 'casual'.... is this just me? If I chose something more colorful should I write:
Formal reception to follow....
In order to convey the formality of the wedding?

Re: If your invitation is colorful....
so they say...
but my take is the tone is set by the overall presentation, color or no color. i think the font can play a role as well...it's all relative!
can you post some examples of what you are considering?

Re: If your invitation is colorful....
Sure....
Of all the ones I am considering these are the ones I think might look most informal... I'm considering these because they go very much with our Fantasy/Renaissance/Fairytale sorta Medieval Theme.... I'll tell ya if I REALLY like them after I receive the sample...
But there are others that I've browsed and liked and kinda ruled out because I feel they would convey informality....like the last ones...

i think your analysis is correct!
the first one i don't view as informal per se, the second one can go either way but i would too put in the 'more casual' category.
formal/less formal also can be sometimes figured out by the location and/or style and taste of the couple in question. i am making my own invitations and am hoping people will know that just because they are done on my computer it does not mean it's a casual affair... people who know us (which is everyone we are inviting), know that we are more on the conservative and 'formal' side, but they also should know that we are not talking black tie...

Re: If your invitation is colorful....
The ones my fi are designing (he is a graphic designer) are really colorful and nothing in the ordinary...I was a little concerned that people might think our wedding would not be as 'formal' however I think more unique, colorful invations are the becoming more popular

Re: If your invitation is colorful....
I know that you're generally not supposed to indicate the formality of the wedding on the invite (it's supposed to be dictated automatically by the time of the wedding), but if you want to go with a more casual invite, you can always just include on the invite 'Black Tie' or 'Black Tie Optional' or even 'Black Tie Reception to Follow.'

Re: If your invitation is colorful....
I don't think that colorful means casual. It depends on the font and the design of the invite. For example:

Jess-- The invites posted are from Gaddis. I'm working with them and they are fantastic. GaddisDesign
I am using invites with color and they are still very formal. I think it can go either way, alot of times colorful invites look more fun than formal, but it is certainly possible to find a colorful formal invite.

I think this one really gives a feeling of being Fantasy/Renaissance/Fairytale. The second one is much more modern looking.

Great, thanks for the info, do you know how much that last invite would cost for about 75 with a response card?

$650. And you don't have to get that exact invitation, you have the ability to customize everything. If you can envision it, Melissa can create it.

Re: If your invitation is colorful....
i just noticed one of my invitations proofs from Gaddis is in Alixgirls post! This is the one i went with though...
This is my invitation....not many people like it because of the Cinderella and Prince 'cartoon' on top but I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! It goes with my theme perfectly!!!!!!!!!
Some said my invitation implies the wedding is a kids party or an informal wedding. WHATEVER!!!!!!!!
I really wouldn't worry....u get what you want...who cares what others say... I know many ppl who like the classic elegant ones... like the ones we saw on here a lot, they're beautiful but i'm into the more colorful ones...and i say its ur wedding and go with what suits u!
